Following the death of Pope Francis, an Irish-American cardinal is playing a leading role in overseeing Vatican affairs until the election of a new pope.

Cardinal Kevin Farrell is a key figure in the papal succession because of his appointment in 2019 as the camerlengo of the apostolic chamber.

The responsibilities of the camerlengo, or chamberlain, include ascertaining the pope’s death, performing some of the rites connected to a papal funeral, overseeing the preparations for a conclave, and managing the administration of the Holy See until the election of the next pope.

Farrell’s nomination as camerlengo was one of several marks of the deep trust Pope Francis placed in the Dublin-born cleric.

Cardinal Ferrell is the guy who lived in the same house as cardinal McCarrick for five years and didn't have a clue about cardinal McCarrick. Yup. That guy. The clueless guy, at least according to him. Camerlengo. At least not the 'nighty night baby' cardinal. That was cardinal Tobin. He'll be voting for the next pope too.

From what I understand, Cardinal McCarrick, committed his atrocities long before Cardinal Ferrel lived in the same apartment as him.
Whether or not Cardinal Ferrell knew of McCarrick's atrocities is speculative. Also. they were often away from the apartment during that time.

We really don't know what he knew. However, the secular media is sure to tell us exactly what Cardinal Ferrell knew.

What cardinal Ferrell knew is not much of much concern for the secular media. It does raise questions for Catholics. Did he know? How could he not know? Was he clueless? Was he a good choice to be a cardinal? How deep does the McCarrick net go? The secular media don't really care to go there.

They did here on the local news this morning. After they told us that Cardinal Ferrell would fill in for the Pope, they quickly went into the connection of Cardinal Ferrell's knowledge of McCarrick's sex abuse scandal. You have to take such things with a grain of salt.

Or maybe he just never heard of McCarrick's atrocities? I know many, including myself, never heard until it came out to the public.
Being clueless about certain events doesn't make you incompetent, just unformed about something that happened in the past.
