We are suppose to be preaching this in all the world. Jesus said that anyone believes and is baptized will be saved and anyone that does not believe will be damned. If the GOSPEL is the power of God unto salvation, can someone clearly explain it to me so I can say it to others in 60 seconds or less? Thank you.
A brief statement of the Gospel message is given in many places in the New Testament. A one-sentence version is, "Jesus died for our sins, was buied, and was ressurected on the third day". The clearest statement that that is the Gospel which should be preached is in I Cor 15:1-4.
From the Bible in Basic English:
1Co 15:1 Now I am going to make clear to you, my brothers, what the good news was which I gave to you, and which you took, and on which your faith is based,
1Co 15:2 By which you have salvation; that is to say, the form in which it was given to you, if it is fixed in your minds, and if your faith in it is not without effect.
1Co 15:3 For I gave to you first of all what was handed down to me, how Christ underwent death for our sins, as it says in the Writings;
1Co 15:4 And he was put in the place of the dead; and on the third day he came back from the dead, as it says in the Writings;
In my opinion, any preaching that does not give these points a high priority is in danger of becoming "another Gospel" and leading to condemnation. At least the three points that Christ died as a sacrifice (example: "A lamb caught by its own horns" in Genesis); that our sins are responsible for Christ's death (Yes, Jesus, I am responsible for every nail pounded into your flesh); and that Christ rose again ("If Christ is not raised, then you are still dead in your sins") should be preached to prepare the soil of men's hearts, and to keep the soil soft in the case of Jesus' followers.
