What does the word "meet" mean in reference to it's use in : "It is truly meet to bless Thee" ?

I think it means “worthy”. I know in choir we hymn this word in reference to the Trinity although our complete phrase is, “It is meet and right to worship, Father, Son, & Holy Spirit; the Trinity One in essence & undivided.”

I guess the difference between the two is it is worthy to bless the Mother of God but to worship the Trinity is worthy but must also be right since worship is to God alone.

My 2 cents.

It means fitting or proper. This usage of the word has been considered archaic and difficult to understand for quite some time, to the point that the misunderstanding of it even spawned a neologism that you've probably heard or seen somewhere that was trying to sound 'Biblical'. :)

I do agree that the 1000-year-old Hebrew has one word. The Greek, which is based on a far older Hebrew text, has a second word. Either the older Hebrew texts had a second word, or those more ancient Jewish translators understood a nuance to the word that later Jews no longer understood.

Either way, my point wasn't to show something about a Hebrew word, but to illustrate another usage of "meet".
