I cannot imagine that the Bible says anything at all about vasectomies! It is not something that was known about then, although eunuchs of course were around.

However, that was an entirely different thing. And I don't think there is anything about emasculating men being sinful.

Why anyone should want to get worked up about this, or even have to ask about it is totally beyond me!

I don't see a reason why it would be although there is someone bound to say that it's sinful. I would pray about this issue deeply and see if it's something the Lord might want you to do.

Done, a few years ago. I had 4 children before I was 30, and my wife is way to fertile, she has fear of birth control, so I got the operation done.

If people have had all the children they want, I see nothing wrong with it. Sometimes it can even be successfully reversed. My ex brother-in-law's second wife wanted children and he promised her he would get the vasectomy reversed. He did, expecting it not to work. They now have two kids. I think it's two.

The Bible doesn't say anything about vasectomies. But then, as far as I know, the Bible doesn't say anything at all about birth control.

I wouldn't say it was a sin to have one. It sounds quite thoughtful actually - not wanting to put your wife through more pregnancies, or make her take all the responsibilty for birth control. But if you're a Catholic, I guess your church might have a different opinion.

I don't know of anything in the Bible that says it's sinful?

Actually, we are supposed to take care of orphans also and not be selfish.

And also the Bible says if one doesn't provide for their own and especially the members of their immediate family they are considered worse than an unbeliever in God's eyes. That's in the NT if you need that scripture, let me know, I'll try to find it for you. So it's a pretty serious issue when we don't provide for our families.

So if one doesn't have the money to take care of a lot of children... that could be a sin (?) Because God wants us to take care of our families, meaning "provide". If one can't provide for more children, I hardly see that as sin. It might actually be worse because God says if one doesn't provide for his own relatives and especially the members of his own family he is considered 'worse' than an unbeliever.

Edit in: Here's the scripture. Actually an infidel is an unbeliever as written in the new way and in my NIV.

1 Timothy 5:8 But if any provide not for his own, and
specially for those of his own house, he hath denied
the faith, and is worse than an infidel.

Edit in again: Here's the NIV, though my wording is a little different, but close to this. I don't think God wants us to have children we cannot afford to take care of because we are supposed to take care of widows and orphans and the elders of our families, too.

7 Give the people these instructions, so that no one may be open to blame. 8 Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and especially for their own household, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

Oh sorry, that's 1 Timothy 5:7-8 The Title is Widows, Elders, Slaves (which meant servants, not the terrible way we had slavery in the past! However, workings of land or land servants were to be considered part of one's family too and treated just like family), but some Bibles and Bible scholars say that line above is separate because most translations say "give the people these instructions too" meaning concerning one's own family. So no, I actually think some people romanticise children too much. God wants us based in the reality of being able to provide for our own and stick to that as the higher calling. I don't see anything "romantic" or good in starving children like in some Third World countries. I think those people should be told the truth of what God says and go on BC.

If you have to ask there must be something deep in your conscience that is telling you that having a vasectomy is wrong.

or....someone with the belief that it is wrong said something?

Why do people expect the Bible to have anything to say about this, or genetic engineering, or birth control, or abortion, or whether it's okey to play Bingo, or play computer games?

The bible was never meant to be a subsitute for thinking for yourself.

 A lot of things weren't around in the time the Bible was written, and anyway, the Bible is a book about God and his love for us, not a detailed list of instructions for every aspect of our lives.
