What Does It Mean When a Guy Calls You Good Looking?

What does that mean? I've never heard a woman described as "good looking" before. I always thought that was a term used to describe men. And how is that different from "pretty" or "beautiful"?

Physical terms:

Good-looking: Attractive. Depends on the situation when he said that to you.

Pretty: Attractive. It's like good-looking, but in a more traditional feminine sense (fragile, delicate, soft).

Beautiful: Aesthetically attractive. You could put this person in your eyes and it wouldn't hurt. Because they're an eye candy sculpted out of Venus's mirror.



Just take it as a compliment because people don't say those things for nothing. You probably are good-looking.

Its meaning differs with the person who uses it. Some people may attribute smoking hot to the term, while others may only mean to convey that the person is tolerable to look at. It just depends. Either way, you most likely shouldn't feel insulted, if the the remark was indeed directed at you.

I was going to be crass and say "if a guy says a girl is good looking, that means he would like to have sex with her"

A guy could be saying it because he feels good saying that a girl is good looking. It is a good feeling if you see someone who is good looking and admit to them that they are good looking. I don't think it means they want to have sex with that person.

The way I use phrase is gender neutral, and wouldn't imply attraction unless the interest wasn't already obvious in other ways or said in a flirty manner like "Hey there good looking!"

"Good looking" literally does mean "good looking" to me. It really is not complicated.

"Beautiful" to me means that she not only is good looking, but she has several inner traits that I respect/find attractive as well. Hence if I don't know a woman that well, she has not yet received the "beautiful" label from me yet. But I will know that she's "good looking" simply from looking at her.
