I love Weird Al's music! I was thrilled to read on Wikipedia that he is a Christian, hence his abstinence from alcohol, drugs and profanity (unlike many celebrities nowadays). Just good, clean fun and music!

That is so cool!

I'm an Al-oholic. A fanatic. I think he's something of a genius.

The fan base at his shows ranges from little kids to grandmas, goths to nerds, bikers to hippies to business folks, all laughing and singing every last lyric.

Seconded. People tend to greatly underestimate his talent as a musician and composer, either because the public just doesn't regard comedy music as "real music" or that his parodies overshadow his impressive repertoire of original songs. The same goes for his band; he's had the same band since his first album, and any group of musicians who can switch between polka, rap, metal, pop, country and rock all within one concert deserves some special commendation.

So yeah, obviously I'm a huge fan. I greatly admire any artist who focuses on making all-accessible music. Too many groups try to explicitly cater to a "kid's audience" or an "adult audience" or any type of market-tested demographic while alienating everyone else, but Al makes music that appeals to everyone, with no pretensions. His unprecedented success is a testament to the fact that sometimes "dumb, clean fun" can be the best type of entertainment.
