In my true oppinion @ the moment--Valentines day is just another day that the greating card company is trying to get more and more of us to go futher into debt, by spending our money on things that will not matter in the next week or too because we all wil have forgotten them.

Valentines day is a major joke to me.!!!

Umm..hmm..how about going out to the movies...or going on a snowboarding trip....or finding some activity that the vast majority of ppl like to do..lol. How about having a dance (not so that single ppl can hook up,per se but just so that singles have a cool place to go for some dancing, socializing & water chugging? :yum: )~at my church, they had this dance that was put on by one of the church members (happened to have a barn that was cleaned-up n' stuff... ) & it was really cool; think it was a costume party, if I remember correctly (erm, actually I do remember correctly..I got some snapshots to prove it LOL!!!) hope that helps..

btw, have a great time, whatever you guys do!!!

*sigh* Valentine's Day. It's a great day when there IS someone, but it's a terrible one when there isn't. Horrors.

Well, I suggest doing something that'll aid in getting people's minds off the fact that they don't have a special someone to share it with, if they're the type to be bothered by such things. Group activies seem to be the best bet, and only in places that aren't swarming with lovey dovey couples. *cringes* Mini golf! Hehe.

A singles group I used to be in would have the men cook a semi-fancy meal for the women. It was fun, and it impressed the heck out of the women! Alas, I only made bread. :( I'd love to do something like that again, because I'm a much better cook, now.

a group of guys did that once for the single gals at our church. The only thing that we learn from that was that the gal's did not enjoy our cooking techique. The one gal that I knew well said to me at their Bible study all they did was to complain about how the food was presented. They also complain about the desart and that guys have no idea about details. Thr food was good we didn't have any leftovers.

Tenorvoice said it was just another day, I can whole heartly agree with that.

That's terrible! I would SO not complain, because the gesture would be so sweet! Whenever our brothers do something thoughtful like that for us, we Christian women should be pleased by the motivation rather than nitpick. I for one would be touched if the men did something like that for the women.

Your right it is pointless. It's not even a holiday. I go to work and my coworkers have cards on their desk on my desk is just work. No photos of g/f, nothing but just work.

hrm...well, it doesn't really bother me that some ppl have someone special to spend time with on Valentine's day (though yes, 'just another day..'). When my co-workers get 'surprise' flowers or whatever sent to them, I actually think that's really sweet~I'm not a hatah.
Only thing that does bother me is when a few of these same people try to make me feel somehow bad that I don't have anyone in my life right now...like, 'aww, Melinda...someday, you'll have someone...' :(
I'm like, umm...was I complaining just then?? cuuuz... But..I get over it & move on..and realize that I'm quite content w/ being single right now.

Anyway, I totally agree with the statement that Valentine's day is just another day..b/c in truth, when someone loves another person, showing them that you care..treating them as special as you feel that they are to you should be a daily thing~ not just for the one day, but everyday. But, I don't knock ppl who actually dig this holiday & celebrate it like it's 1999...

but egad, ppl...cheer up!! :) If Valentine's day is indeed, 'just another day' for the lot of you, why is it so annoying that there are those who actually celebrate it w/ such excitement? yeesh...just keep doing what you're doing & you won't even notice that 'annoying' lovey-dovey stuff....:p
