I had these two dreams in one night. In the first dream someone was looking at my engagement ring and they started to scratch at the diamond with their fingernail. Instead of being solid, the diamond turned out to be made of compacted powder and the person (a stranger) scratched and scraped almost all of it out of the stone’s casing.

In the second dream I was looking at my wedding ring and I moved it to reveal a stain on my finger, indicating that the ring was made of non precious metal. I was disappointed in my husband because he hadn’t bought me a ring of good quality as it wouldn't last a lifetime.

I'm currently engaged so the second dream was of the future. I'm genuinely scared that God is telling me not to marry my fiance :(

My initial thought is that it's more about not placing too high a set of expectations on marriage (or even engagemet, a highly stressful time as the wedding approaches.) The best marriages age just as the couples do, and sometimes the precious overlay weathers so that some of that green-making (but tough) metal beneath is exposed.

Literally, of course, even a low-cost ring will maintain its luster for life; but dreams speak in metaphor. You can go through many "green finger" periods in marriage. Some of them seem endless. But if you go into marriage with your eyes open, each to the other's "Virtues kind, to faults a little blind," you'll even come to take a certain appropriate pride in that greenish tint.

By the way, I have been married for 35+ years.

The first dream tells of another person who is out to test your relationship with your future partner. The diamond turning to powder means that the test will make you wonder just how solid it really is. Are you suspicious of someone?

In the second dream I was looking at my wedding ring and I moved it to reveal a stain on my finger, indicating that the ring was made of non precious metal. The second dream tells of your anxiety of your future marriage. Will it be solid enough to endure a life time you will ask yourself. You will be disappointed in your husband as he is not what you thought he would be like.

You probably have already seen some things in him that your wondering about. Take this dream not to discourage you but as a warning to proceed with caution. Take your time to really get to know him even if you have to postpone the wedding. You will be glad you did.

It's hard to know what God is trying to tell you. But if you spend plenty of time with Him, things will turn out according to His perfect will and you can have peace in all things.

Marriage is God's.
