“But today I heard, ‘Oh, well we weren’t invited.’ Well, you’ve been there for three years,” Trump continued. “You should’ve ended it in three years. You should have never started it. You could have made a deal. I could have made a deal for Ukraine that would have given them almost all of the land, and no people would have been killed, and no city would have been demolished and not one dome would have been knocked down. But they chose not to do it that way.”

"I could have....." (of course Trump would say that. He alone can solve any problem, including Putin's quest for territory).

President Trump on Tuesday appeared to blame Ukraine’s leaders for the three-year war with Russia, arguing Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky “should have never started it.”

Lest you doubt the source, the article includes videos with plenty of surrounding context.
I thought the title of the thread was clickbait. I really thought 'No way that even Trump could say that'. I really don't know what to say. Is he actually living in some alternate reality in his own mind?

No, he just has a habit of adopting the opinions of the last person he talked to.

There are a few topics where it does seem that Trump has either had the same lie fed to him so many times or told the same lie so many times that he truly believes the lie. I don't know if that is the case here or not. Post #5 is also a viable alternative.

The US should take a note of what Wales is doing: Politicians who deliberately lie could be forced from office in Wales

'Elected politicians who deliberately lie could be forced from office under proposals designed to put Wales at the forefront of the “global challenge” to restore trust in politics.
Radical changes suggested by the Welsh parliament standards committee would also make candidates in elections liable to criminal prosecution for making any false statement to win votes.'

Trump wouldn't even get through the door of the Senedd (Welsh Parliament).

It appears that Rex Tillerson underestimated President Trump’s ability to mould reality to his own liking.

Wow, a whole thread where we all agree.

With not a single defense of the president.

Maybe Rachel Maddow is right. Maybe Trump's supporters are getting too embarrassed to publicly declare their support.

But you've seen what happens. Tell them that the WH is lying to them about examples of fraud and the conversation goes like this:

'They're lying to you.'
'No they're not'.
'But look, here's the evidence. It's undeniable'.
'Ah, but there has been fraud'.

Expect something along those lines re Trump's idiotic comment that Ukraine started this. Maybe 'Ah, but Trump's going to end the war'.

One of our UK reporters was in Ukraine when the war started and confirmed that Russia had bombed Ukraine. I expect many were and did the same.

As a cat lover I had followed someone posting about their family of cats. They posted in English and another language which appeared to be eastern European. One day instead of cat pictures they posted that bombs were going off near them and that Russia was attacking their city. It turns out that they were in Kyiv.

When you've heard these first hand experiences how can you not believe them? I'm sure the President of the USA must have had much more official reports than these, which Trump now has access to, so how could he, in any way, blame Ukraine?

The goal is to have a populous ready and eager to not know what is going on, or what the truth is.
Then “the work” can begin.

I wonder if Trump and Putin can come up with a solution about Canada...

I'm sure Putin will be happy to cede Canada to the US, in exchange for Trump giving Ukraine to Russia.

So am I reading the article right - Trump believes that Ukraine is responsible for provoking Russia into violence - just because they would not agree to Russia's terms?

Gee... sure hope the real estate developers who Kushner contracts with to colonize Gaza don't drag their feet in agreeing to terms...
