Trump hires Susie Wiles as first female White House chief of staff

President-elect Donald Trump announced Thursday that longtime GOP operative Susie Wiles will be his White House chief of staff, making her the first woman to hold the position.

"Susie is tough, smart, innovative and is universally admired and respected," Trump said in a statement, attributing to her "one of the greatest political victories in American history."

"I have no doubt that she will make our country proud," he added.

It's going to be interesting to see how well she does. The Chief of Staff office has a reputation for eating up its holders, and while she is very experienced politically, most of that seems to be campaign-related, which is a different animal from trying to run the federal government. I hope she does well in it though, both because of the importance of the office and the fact that people are going to have her under a microscope for being the first woman to hold it.
