Surely that is our mission ??

We claim to be Baptised in the Holy Spirit, yet, where is the bit that follows ??

THE WITNESSING PART ?

We are ones with the supposed GENUINE POWER to do this ??

Are we not bothered, dont really care, claim its not our calling etc etc.....

WE NEED TO TELL SOMEBODY ABOUT JESUS & WHAT HE HAS DONE FOR US.

Surely that's the bottom line.

We are being outdone by the JW's, and other cults.

Whats going on ?

Only yesterday I see about 25 JW's flooding my area and not too far away the Mormons were at it as well.

Its embarrassing really.:o

Brother, you know my answer. We are told that out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks, amen? What then does that tell us as to why the church has become small flickering lights under bushel baskets and our solution is to get people under our basket?

Those in the early church turned the entire world upside down in ONE generation. There is something missing in our Christianity. A crack in our armor. For the most part, we are not free indeed. We are not overcomers. We are still battling with our flesh and the best we can do is give our flesh a religious make-over. It is not enough. We are healed only slightly.

You know what I share as the solution, that we are to combine the blood of the lamb with our testimony as to who we are in Him.

Up till now, our testimony is that we are "just sinners saved by grace". It sounds so nice, so humble, but it is simply not true. We are new creatures, light in the Lord, overcomers, and sin is not to have dominion over us. Our shields of faith are supposed to WORK.

It is when we are finally sick and tired of being defeated by the sins of the flesh, and see that for us to ever become full of life, the flesh must finally be dealt with, not by discipline or ascetism, but by FAITH, that we will discover the truth that leads to FREE INDEED.

And what happens to a people who have walked in the bondage to the old nature and who have suddenly discovered how to walk with sin under their feet, and seen the guilt of their consciences melt away from the joy of abiding in Him all the day long....every day?

We will witness. It is simply impossible not to when we finally discover the glorious liberty of the children of God.

So what is the solution to the witnessing "crisis"? Let us grab hold of the promises of God as OUR promises.

Blessings, Hap

Gideon

I pray for a Saul style anointing on us all!

Acts 26:16-18
‘Now get up and stand on your feet. I have appeared to you to appoint you as a servant and as a witness of what you have seen and will see of me. I will rescue you from your own people and from the Gentiles. I am sending you to them to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.

Well, the silence is deafening ! (only kidding).

But, it would be interesting to find an explanation - why so many apparant SPIRIT BAPTISED merchants - are failing to use the Gift for what it was intended for.......surely we have the POWER behiind our words, unlike the Cults who only have the 'letter' and a warped one at that.

In Matthew 9:37-38, the Lord Jesus clearly identifies the problem when He said, “The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few.” Then He provides the solution to the problem when He told His disciples to “Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.” To me it is quite evident that there were two distinct problems established here. First of all, there was a shortage of labourers called of God and prepared to take the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost and dying world. Though the harvest was truly plenteous, and the fields were “white (ripe) already to harvest,” yet there were few who willing to go “. . . into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” This was the result of the second problem, a lack of prayer on the part of God’s people. The command, not the suggestion, was “Pray YE therefore the Lord of the harvest, that HE will send forth labourers into HIS harvest.” It is abundantly clear to me that the labourers come from the Lord of the harvest and not from any other source. It is God, and God alone, Who raises up and calls the labourers to the harvest fields, and it is through the fervent prayers of the saints that their numbers are increased. The labourers will be few when there is a distinct lack of prayer for more men to go and take the message of forgiveness and redemption through the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ to a world lost in sin and darkness. And keep in mind that when you go to the Lord and ask Him to raise up labourers for the harvest fields, you should always be willing to do it yourself should God so lead and direct. Remember, the Lord Jesus sent into the harvest the very men He asked to pray for more labourers.
When is the last time you and I attended a prayer meeting, any prayer meeting, where voices were lifted up to God crying out to Him for more labourers for the harvest fields. We speak of the need in missions conferences, and there has never been a lack of preaching in missions conferences on the text at hand. But how often do we stop talking about the content of Matthew 9:37 and 38 and get down on our faces before God and plead with Him, both corporately and individually, for more labourers for the harvest? Is it not true that many of our meetings, most of our church services, many of our ministry endeavors, and even what we call our prayer meetings, are actually lacking in real, meaningful seasons of prayer? When is the last time you were in a corporate prayer meeting and heard some dear saint labor in agonizing prayer, crying out to the Lord of the harvest for more Spirit-gifted, God-called, God-sent men who will count the cost, be willing to pay any price, and will go anywhere to tell others of God’s saving grace? Have we actually disobeyed what the Master commanded us to do in seeking Him for labourers, or have we modern Christians generated labourers for the harvest fields some other way, and through our own means and devices?

I am convinced that there is noshortage of labourers amongst our people today. It is my personal belief that our churches are full of un-awakened and un-surrendered labourers. Only the prayers of the saints will move the hearts of those God would choose to send. Even as you bow your knees before God crying out to Him for more labourers for His harvest, it may well be that He calls you, my dear friend!

Let us plead with God through thepowerful agency of prayer for more labourers for the harvest fields. May our local assemblies set aside special seasons of corporate prayer seeking the face of God for more true God-called servants who will go to a lost world with the Good News that Jesus saves. May we be obedient to do exactly what Jesus has commanded, not merely suggested, that we do. Let us pray! (anonymous)

For "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." [14] But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? [15] And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, "How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!" [16] BUT NOT EVERYONE WELCOMES THE GOOD NEWS, FOR I SAITH THE PROPHET SAID, "LORD, WHO HAS BELIEVED OUR MESSAGE?" [17] So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.

MrHappy3, Thank you for your post and your enthusiasm!

Yes it is every Christian's mission to spread the good news. However it makes many people feel uncomfortable because they (me included) try to witness to people using their own power and fall flat on their face - I wonder if any of us are actually baptised in the holy spirit when you look at the Acts account? Without the holy spirit we are not equipped, we have no power and our words seem useless.

I'm not convinced that I'm baptised in the holy spirit but I still pray to God that He will lead me to people that He wants me to talk to. Since then I've had the opportunity to talk and pray with two different people on their death bed which is amazing for me as I'm naturally a very shy person. I will talk to anyone who appears open to the gospel but I am tired of speaking to people who don't want to listen. As for my non-Christian family members who don't want to listen I wrote all of them a letter telling them the gospel.

I don't feel equipped or able to witness to people but I do the best I can. The churches I have attended in the past seem to encourage people to invite their friends to church however from my experience there is little said from the pulpit about how we should be witnessing directly to people.

I prefer to witness by my actions and allow people to approach me when they have questions about my life and why I do the things that I do.

That is how I am most effective.

Some may call me lukewarm, but I call myself working as intended. Not all are very vocal, nor do I think that we all need to be, but rather work with what's been given to us by God. I work best by witnessing through my actions and having people come to me.

Some are called to be bold evangelists. Others are called to serve in different ways. But everyone has been called/ gifted to do something.

In these last days everyone who stands to the end firm has won. Many have gone out trying to convert the world and have instead been converted by the world.

There are so many influences trying to pull us away from the truth, saving yourself from a corrupt and wicked generation and keeping yourself pure is an accomplishment.

If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves....

He is God.
He calls the shots
He is the Commander.
We have all these ideas of what we should be doing but we so rarely take the time to seek Him for actual instruction. And in the end, are we trusting in Him or in our own abilities?
When it comes to witnessing, The Holy Spirit enables us to speak and He convicts the listener. When it comes to witnessing we have a very small roll in the whole process. Are we trusting in our own abilities or in Him? It's Holy Spirit's ministry to save people. It's His ministry to deliver the words that HE puts in our mouth to the heart of the listener. The whole thing is His work.

What I see is this: we don't need God to do what we are doing. Our hope is not in Him alone. We rely heavily on our own abilities. I'm sure it's not like this in every house of worship and in every heart, but it's what I see today. We need to humble ourselves.
