Thank your for the lin DD.

In the frist 10 minutes or so of the interview Moore makes this claim:

"You see our Constitution says that our Justice system is established invokingthe favor of almighty God. And if I can't aknowledge God, then I can't uphold our Justice system"

He also says that the Feds have no jurisiction over the state justice systems. And he says that quite matter-of-factually as if 180 years of case law had not been estabished to the contrary.

The man is either an incorrigible lier or he is completely insane.

What is amazing about Moore is that he repeatedly claims the a federal judge's interpretation of the law doesn't matter and that this is a state's rights issue(because he thinks the interpretation is wrong). Then he says he is waiting for the Supreme Court to make its ruling and decide the matter. Uh, can you say 'contradiction? How about 'wack-o'?

you know I always though that the constitution was rather silly, but having read through it after this topic came up, I rather like it. Apart from the gun silliness... though I suppose it was useful at the time.

Hey, we Americans may love our guns, but we're a peace-loving people for the most part.

Of course, we became a peace-loving people by shooting all the people who threatened to disturb our peace...

Hi! Brimshack:wave:

What if the Supreme Court agrees with him? What would be the label used then?

Incorrigible lier or completely insane? Yes but isn't this the view of most atheists in regards to Christians?

I for one believe that he should obey the law as written. If it is written that he must adhere to the higher court's decision, then he should. If he has a problem with having to do this, he needs to take that to the Supreme Court. I am an American and I believe we have a workable system here. I am all for following the rules.:)

The hypoethetical is improbable. As it stands, he is running counter to almost two centuries of case law on states rights, and he is literally imagining things if he thinks the Constitution syas our law is established on the favor of God. Read the document yourself, there are no such words in it.

…and I can't speak for other atheists, but no I do not consider all theists insane or liers. I reserve that for people like Moore who demonstrate a complete lack of integrity, all the while pretending they are champions of morality.

Speaking as an agnostic, I do not consider all theists to be insane or liars either. Just the insane, lying ones.

He would be the hypocrite - for expecting others to obey the courts when he himself only does so if he agrees with their decisions.
And for constantly, and vocally, denying the federal court's jurisdiction... except when his supporters want to file stupid motions and countersuits.
