Time is ticking, ticking by,
Birds are singing, babies cry,
Hearts are mourning things long dead,
Words ill spoken, should not said.

So regretful, those who mourn
Over things should not been born,
Wish that they could all erase,
And the truth not have to face.

We cannot erase the past,
Even if we pray and fast.
What we did will long live on
Even when we’re dead and gone.

So, what is our attitude?
Past is past, that is the truth.
But there may be consequence
For the things we did, no sense.

Yes, we can be forgiven,
Die with Christ to self and sin,
Live for Him now every day,
Read our Bibles, bow and pray,

Walk with Jesus every day,
Do all that he has to say,
Live for Him and not for self
Put the flesh up on the shelf.

Still we may be called to pay
For what we did another day,
For everyone has not forgiven
The sins we did, that we were livin.

I remember a singer on TBN who did a lot of damage when he was out in the world. Then he got saved and dedicated his life to doing good. It took him a while but eventually the good and the bad balanced themselves out.

Daniel 5:27 (KJV): "TEKEL; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting."

Proverbs 21:2 (NIV):

"A person may think their own ways are right, but the Lord weighs the heart."

Mind is not a word in the Hebrew. Heart and Mind together make up one word.

Yes, in Hebrew, the concept of the "heart" often encompasses what we in modern English might consider both the heart and mind. The Hebrew word "lev" (לֵב) or "levav" (לֵבָב) can be translated as "heart," but it also refers to the seat of emotion, intellect, and will. This means that in ancient Hebrew thought, the heart was seen as the center of both emotional and cognitive functions.

For example:

Deuteronomy 6:5 (NIV):

"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength."

  • The word "heart" here represents the entirety of one’s inner being, including both emotions and thoughts

I am sorry, but I don't understand the point you are trying to make here in relationship to the poem. What message are you trying to convey?

My comment was on: "We cannot erase the past,". I SAID If we did evil we can not do good and that would balance the scale. Even if we can not blot out what we have done. We can still do enough good in life to at least attempt to make up for it.
