Three Days of Darkness.

St. Padre Pio was a Catholic Priest who had the Stigmata. For those who do not know what the Stigmata is, St. Padre Pio would bleed from the places on his body where our Lord bled upon the cross. As like in Fatima, when we see powerful miracles, it gives Catholics a great deal of credibility that the prophecies they give us are from God. Yes the Church, even in sight of all these miraculous events of the Saints, does not force us to accept personal revelation. Still we are, after witnessing these great miracles from God, displayed through these Saints, allowed to believe in their prophecies. There are also other Saints who have prophesied about the up coming 'three days of darkness'

Jesus and prophets have talked about the darkness that happens at the Battle of Armageddon.

Take care of the animals during these days. I am the Creator and Preserver of all animals as well as man. I shall give you a Few signs beforehand, at which time you should place more food before them. I will preserve the property of the elect, including the animals, for they shall be in need of sustenance afterwards as well. Let no one go across the yard, even to feed the animals--he who steps outside will perish! Cover your windows carefully. My elect shall not see My wrath. Have confidence in Me, and I will be your protection. Your confidence obliges Me to come to your aid.

The hour of My coming is near! But I will show mercy. A most dreadful punishment will bear witness to the times. My angels, who are to be the executioners of this work, are ready with their pointed swords! They will take special care to annihilate all those who mocked Me and would not believe in My revelations.

Hurricanes of fire will pour forth from the clouds and spread over the entire earth! Storms, bad weather, thunderbolts and earthquakes will cover the earth for two days. An uninterrupted rain of fire will take place! It will begin during a very cold night. All this is to prove that God is the Master of Creation. Those who hope in Me, and believe in my words, have nothing to fear because I will not forsake them, nor those who spread My message. No harm will come to those who are in the state of grace and who seek My mother's protection.

That you may be prepared for these visitations, I will give you the following signs and instructions: The night will be very cold. The wind will roar. After a time, thunderbolts will be heard. Lock all the doors and windows. Talk to no one outside the house. Kneel down before a crucifix, be sorry for your sins, and beg My Mother's protection. Do not look during the earthquake, because the anger of God is holy! Jesus does not want us to behold the anger of God, because God's anger must be contemplated with fear and trembling.

Those who disregard this advice will be killed instantly. The wind will carry with it poisonous gases which will be diffused over the entire earth. Those who suffer and die innocently will be martyrs and they will be with Me in My Kingdom.

Satan will triumph! But after three nights, the earthquake and fire will cease. On the following day the sun will shine again. angels will descend from Heaven and will spread the spirit of peace over the earth. A feeling of immeasurable gratitude will take possession of those who survive this terrible ordeal-the impending punishment-with which God has visited the earth since creation.

I have chosen souls in other countries too, such as Belgium, Switzerland. Spain, who have received these revelations so that other countries also may be prepared. Pray much during this Holy Year of 1950. Pray the Rosary, but pray it well, so that your prayers may reach Heaven. Soon a more terrible catastrophe shall come upon the entire world, such as never before has been witnessed, a terrible chastisement never before experienced! The war of 1950 shall be the introduction to these things.

How unconcerned men are regarding these things! which shall so soon come upon them, contrary to all expectations. How indifferent they are in preparing themselves for these unheard of events, through which they will have to pass so shortly!

The weight of the Divine balance has reached the earth! The wrath of My Father shall be poured out over the entire world! I am again warning the world through your instrumentality, as I have so often done heretofore.

The sins of men have multiplied beyond measure: Irreverence in Church, sinful pride committed in sham religious activities, lack of true brotherly love, indecency in dress, especially at summer seasons...The world is filled with iniquity.

This catastrophe shall come upon the earth like a flash of lightning at which moment the light of the morning sun shall be replaced by black darkness! No one shall leave the house or look out of a window from that moment on. I Myself shall come amidst thunder and lightning. The wicked shall behold My Divine Heart. There shall be great confusion because of this utter darkness in which the entire earth shall be enveloped, and many, many shall die from fear and despair.

Those who shall fight for My cause shall receive grace from My Divine Heart; and the cry: "WHO IS LIKE UNTO GOD!" shall serve as a means of protection to many. However, many shall burn in the open fields like withered grass! The godless shall be annihilated, so that afterwards the just shall be able to stand afresh.

On the day, as soon as complete darkness has set in, no one shall leave the house or look from out of the window. The darkness shall last a day and a night, followed by another day and a night, and another day--but on the night following, the stars will shine again, and on the next morning the sun shall rise again, and it will be SPRINGTIME!!

In the days of darkness, My elect shall not sleep, as did the disciples in the garden of olives. They, shall pray incessantly, and they shall not be disappointed in Me. I shall gather My elect. Hell will believe itself to be in possession of the entire earth, but I shall reclaim it!

Do you, perhaps, think that I would permit My Father to have such terrible chastisements come upon the world, if the world would turn from iniquity to justice? But because of My great love, these afflictions shall be permitted to come upon man. Although many shall curse Me, yet thousands of souls shall be saved through them. No human understanding can fathom the depth of My love!

Pray! Pray! I desire your prayers. My Dear Mother Mary, Saint Joseph, Saint Elizabeth, Saint Conrad, Saint Michael. Saint Peter, the Little Therese, Your Holy Angels, shall be your intercessors. Implore their aid! Be courageous soldiers of Christ! At the return of light, let everyone give thanks to the Holy Trinity for Their protection! The devastation shall be very great! But I, Your God, will have purified the earth. I am with you. Have confidence!

So let's go a little further and see what we find. If we Google the opening words of the revelation we find that it only has three hits: the page the reader is asking about, a forum inquiry asking if the revelation is genuine, and a Google Books hit for a book by the psychic medium Sylvia Browne (MORE INFO).


This does not inspire confidence in the alleged revelation. If this were an authentic quote, it should have a bigger cyber-footprint than that, with some sources directing us to a traceable source (something that none of the hits do, including Sylvia Browne's book).


I haven't done a great deal of research on the "three days of darkness" literature, but someone who has is Desmond Birch, author of Trial, Tribulation, & Triumph, a 600-page book on prophetic ideas. I can't assess the book as a whole (because I haven't read it), but I would note the following section. The author (who himself seems to favor the idea that there will be a "three days of darkness") writes:


"1. Padre Pio Did Not Predict Three Days of Darkness [emphasis in original]
". . . There are printed materials containing prophecy of three days of darkness which attribute such a prophecy to Padre Pio. But the author [i.e. Birch] has in his possession sworn documents from the Capuchin Order stating that no such prophecy ever emanated [sic] from Padre Pio.

All the author's attempts to track down an authentic source from Padre Pio have led to the conclusion that; [sic] some person(s) either accidentally or willfully created these attributions of such a prophecy to Padre Pio" (Trial, Tribulation, & Triumph, p. 283).

It would appear - the Church will be renewed - but that the 3 days of darkness spoken of by Peter and John is yet to be understood.

My take on this vision:

“Among the strangest things that I saw, were long processions of bishops. Their thoughts and utterances were made known to me through images issuing from their mouths. Their faults towards religion were shown by external deformities. A few had only a body, with a dark cloud of fog instead of a head. Others had only a head, their bodies and hearts were like thick vapors. Some were lame; others were paralytics; others were asleep or staggering. I saw what I believe to be nearly all the bishops of the world, but only a small number were perfectly sound. I also saw the Holy Father – God-fearing and prayerful. Nothing left to be desired in his appearance, but he was weakened by old age and by much suffering. His head was lolling from side to side, and it dropped onto his chest as if he was falling asleep He often fainted and seemed to be dying. But when he was praying, he was often comforted by apparitions from Heaven. Well, i dont wish to give my take lest i stand accused before God of stating judgment on Bishops - but the first paragraph appears to be JPll.
For JPll did have mystical visions from the Lord...and i feel sorry for those who say nasty things about him.

In the early 90's, I was in a very devout Church group, we prayed the rosary, watched Archbishop Sheen videos, did Eucharist adoration, and we also studied Padre PIO' 'Three Days of Darkness'. This is the first I have heard of any controversy over St. Padre PIO.

When we look at God's big picture, the 'Three Days of Darkness' makes a great deal of sense. Jesus tells us that He will His destroyers to destroy the Jewish temple made of stone and rebuild a temple not made of stone. God tells us that He will put His Spirit in us and we will know His will. Jesus is going to unite with His Bride, the Wedding Day of the Lamb.

The Church is going to suffer a death, which is the Battle of Armageddon. For three days it will seem that Satan has victory over the world. Then Jesus comes in His Power and Glory to Spiritually unite with His Church. In other words, Christ's Church is going to mirror Christ's death, decent into hell, and Resurrection.

From the time of the Exodus, until Israel's fall in 587 B.C. God was King over Israel and God resided with Israel, first in a tent and then Solomon built the temple of stone. Because of Israel's sins, God left Jerusalem and re positioned Himself on Mt. Zion. At the Battle of Armageddon, Jesus takes over as King and Ruler of Israel and the world. Jesus will again reside in the New Jerusalem, only now within the people of the New Jerusalem, which the New Jerusalem will be the Catholic Church.

There are a number of scriptures, including NT Revelation, which point to this time, Jesus enthronement as King and Ruler of the world, and thus the restoration of Israel, as 'Salvation'. Of course, Christ's birth, life, death and Resurrection is Salvation, and the greatest event of all time. But, the 'Third Secret of Fatima and scriptures, put Christ's enthronement and 'Wedding Day' as the second greatest event of all time. This event is also recognized in scriptures as 'Salvation'. Salvation of the temple of God.

Jesus is not King until His subjects, Apocalyptic Angels/Apostolic Successors use the 'keys to the Kingdom' the binding and loosting of sins, to put Christ's Laws into enforcement on earth. Most scriptures indicate this takes about an hour. God promises to protect His Church during the tribulation of Armageddon (rapture). It would be good if Jesus told us what we, His Church, should do for the three days between the reading of the Armageddon scroll which induces the three days of darkness, and the 'Wedding Day' of the Lamb, three days later. Padre PIO's 'Three Days of Darkness' is a perfect fit.

Zion is the Bride of the Lamb, the Catholic Church. Jesus certainly wants His Bride to make it to His 'Wedding Day', unharmed. I think Jesus would send a messenger, or messengers, to guide His Church through the Battle of Armageddon, unscathed. Padre PIO, and the other saints talking about the 'Three Days of Darkness', to me at least, is Jesus giving His Church instructions on how to come through the Battle of Armageddon, under His protection as the Israelites left Egypt, under God's protection. The great eagle carrying the Church out of harms way, in the book of Revelation, symbolizes this protection from God.

Satan is man's evil pride on earth, especially man's evil pride in secular power.
Fallen Angel, Morning Star, Nebuchadnezzar, King of Babylon Jesus, Archangel Michael and his angels are going to go into battle and defeat Satan. Satan, man's evil pride is going to be furious. The Church will be under attack. The great eagle represents God carrying the Church out of harms way. God will be the great eagle's tail gunner. God will annihilate any and all threats who rise up in hostile pursuit of the Church. What should we, the Church, be doing while all this is going on? Go to confession, be in a state of grace, go in your house, cover the windows, light your holy candles, have Holy water to keep the demons out, and pray, pray, pray, for three days straight. That sounds like what we should be doing.

I know how badly you want the world to end at the great chastisement. LOL I would hope that you have hope in God that He will preserve the faithful of His Church for a post Armageddon, Messianic Reign, golden era of peace, justice and service to God. After all, if it is the unrepentant wicked that God is sad, angry, and going to destroy the world for, in the great chastisement, why not just get rid of the wicked and leave the faithful who are producing love and faithfulness to God? This only makes sense for God to do this.

The Venerable Elizabeth Canori-Mora’s and Blessed Anna-Maria Taigi, like St. Padre Pio, talk of the Blessed Mother's 'golden era' or era of peace for mankind after the great chastisement. This is what they see as happening after the 'Three Days of Darkness'.

Message of hope

A striking similarity, however, occurs between Our Lady’s message of hope regarding the triumph of Her Immaculate Heart and the two above prophecies. Venerable Elizabeth Canori-Mora’s vision of a great restoration which would follow after the earth’s debacle is detailed as follows:

“Then a beautiful splendor came over the earth, to announce the reconciliation of God with mankind.”

“The small flock of faithful Catholics who had taken refuge under the trees will be brought before Saint Peter, who will choose a new pope. All the Church will be reordered according to the true dictates of the holy Gospel. The religious orders will be reestablished and the homes of Christians will become homes imbued with religion.

“So great will be the fervor and zeal for the glory of God that everything will promote love of God and neighbor. The triumph, glory and honor of the Catholic Church will be established in an instant. She will be acclaimed, venerated and esteemed by all. All will resolve to follow Her, recognizing the Vicar of Christ as the Supreme Pontiff.”

Blessed Anna-Maria Taigi spoke of this restoration in the following manner:

“After the three days of darkness, Saints Peter and Paul, having come down from heaven, will preach throughout the world and designate a new pope. A great light will flash from their bodies and will settle upon the cardinal, the future Pontiff. Then Christianity will spread throughout the world. Whole nations will join the Church shortly before the reign of Anti-Christ. These conversions will be amazing. Those who shall survive shall have to conduct themselves well. There shall be innumerable conversions of heretics, who will return to the bosom of the Church; all will note the edifying conduct of their lives, as well as that of all other Catholics. Russia, England, and China will come to the Church."

Thus, while the world faces a fearsome and terrible destruction in light of mankind’s insolence and impiety, God assures us that He will not abandon those who are faithful to Him. Our Lady gave us the remedy at Fatima by asking for the daily recitation of the Rosary; the establishment of the First Five Saturday devotions; devotion to Her Immaculate Heart; a prayerful life; penance and amendment of life. These requests remain ever relevant and urgent. And we must continue to heed Her maternal warnings.

Amid the confusion of our days, let us remain steadfast and continue to hope, confide and turn to Our Lady, who is our Mother of Good Counsel and our Confidence.

We must always trust in Her words and never tire in believing: “Finally, My Immaculate Heart will triumph!”

St. Bernadette also talks of the golden age after the great chastisement. Symbolic Babylon falls at the Battle of Armageddon in the Book of Revelations. The 'Persia' that Bernadette is talking about is a code for the apocalyptic fall of Babylon. It is not a bomb but Jesus, Archangel Michael and his angels destroying symbolic Babylon (Persia), in the Book of Revelation. Again, it is not the actual people living in Babylon/Persia today, its reference is to where Israel went at their fall in 587 B.C.. This following quote is unconfirmed.

According to the “Schwarzer Brief”, a German-language newsletter for Clerics, of November 4, 1998, Bernadette wrote a letter to Pope Leo XIII. Just before she passed away in 1879. In this letter, she revealed five prophecies for the 20th century. The first three were probably identical with the “three secrets”, the other two were possibly revealed during another apparition.

On Sheet 5 was the most detailed text: “Your Holiness, the Holy Virgin told me that with the end of the 20th Century the end of the age of science would follow. A new era of the Faith will begin everywhere on Earth. Eventually the evidence is found that it was God who created the Earth and Man. This will be the beginning of the end of the sciences; the people will not believe in them any longer. Millions will turn back to Christ…”

The Church, Bernadette said, would play a new, important role. The loss of trust in the Sciences, so the seer, was caused by the “haughtiness of the physicians who used their knowledge to create a monster, a creature which is neither man nor beast.” This would cause a public scandal. The people would realize that the scientists went too far - and “chase them like you chase a rapacious wolf.”

Furthermore, Bernadette warns that a new, big war could break out at the turn of the Millennium. “On the eve of the year 2000 a final clash between the followers of Mohammed and the Christian nations will happen. In a horrible battle, 5.650.451 soldiers will loose their life and a bomb with great impact will be thrown onto a city in Persia.”

“At the end”, Bernadette continued, “the sign of the Cross will conquer and all muslims will embrace the Christian Faith. Great wealth will follow and the Lord will pour out His blessings over the faithful.” Poverty, disease and hunger have an end, every tenth person will have the power to heal. “The 21st Century will be known as the Second Golden Age of mankind”, the seer concluded.

St Bernadette was not well educated and she certainly, as a young girl , did not speak French.

Just plucked this from the back of my memory - Occitan is the language which can still be heard in the Haut and Midi Pyrenées.

ST. LOUIS DE MONTFORT and St. Hildegard also resound St. Padre PIO message of a great chatizement followed by a golden age for the Church and mankind. St. Hildegard calls it the THE MINOR CHASTISEMENT verses the Major Chastizement which will come later on when it really is all over. This is how I understand her and I read once where Pope Benedict XVI explained it this way.

THE MINOR CHASTISEMENT

At this time as a punishment for their sins Christians especially will attempt armed resistance to those who at that time are persecuting them, sensing no concern for the death of their bodies.
"A powerful wind will rise in the North carrying heavy fog and the densest dust by divine command and it will fill their throats and eyes so they will cease their savagery and be stricken with great fear.

Then within the Christian people the Holy Godhead will accomplish signs and wonders as if accomplished them at the time of Moses with the pillar of cloud and as Michael the archangel did when he fought the heathen for the sake of the Christians. Because of Michael's help Gods faithful children will march under his protection. They will decimate their foes and achieve victory through Gods power As a result of this a large number of heathens will join Christians in true faith and they will say The God of the Christians is true God because such wondrous works have been accomplished among the Christians.

This intermediary stage is the most dynamic and active, because during this stage we pass from the reign of sin to the reign of Jesus Christ in the hearts of men and women. Montfort is convinced that the Kingdom of God in Jesus Christ should not be projected into the hereafter but must come into existence on earth, in this world: "Is it not true that your kingdom must come?" (PM 5). This is the leitmotif of TD from its first sentence: "It was through the blessed Virgin Mary that Jesus Christ came into the world, and it is also through her that he must reign in the world" (TD 1; cf. 13, 22, 49, 157, 217, 262). Who will be able to transform the world? For Montfort there is no doubt: God alone can accomplish such a task. He will intervene with "a deluge of fire, love and justice" through the mediation of the Spirit and the manifold acts of Mary (PM 13, 15, 24-25; TD 49-56). This divine intervention will be through and in mankind, especially through the "apostles of the end times" (TD 58). Their task will be twofold: " destroying sin and setting up the kingdom of Jesus" (SM 59)....

...The work of the apostles of the end times swings essentially around two poles, one negative, the other positive: "destroying sin and establishing the reign of Jesus Christ" (SM 59). The first pole involves a series of aggressive actions against the forces of evil: they"will give battle, overthrowing and crushing" (TD 48), they "will thunder against sin, they will storm against the world, they will strike down the devil and his followers" (TD 57), they "will be the odor of death to the great, the rich and the proud of this world" (TD 56). In the PM, along the same lines, Montfort foresees missionaries who will attack and overthrow the "enemies of God" (PM 8, 29), who will "crush the head of the serpent" (PM 12), "address their ardent prayers to heaven, turning them into the weapons which will overcome or convert their enemies" (PM 25). The positive pole, which is described in more detail, consists of actions directed at the reform of the Church and its extension into the world: their "ministry will renew the face of the earth and reform your Church" (PM 17). With this objective, the apostles of the end times will carry out sanctifying apostolic work: they "will enkindle everywhere the fires of divine love" (TD 56); "wherever they preach, they will leave behind them nothing but the gold of love" (TD 58); they will be the "sweet fragrance of Jesus" (TD 56). They will "build the temple of the true Solomon and the mystical city of God" (TD 48), and they will "shower down the rain of God’s word and of eternal life" (TD 57). Moreover, they will work to extend the Lord’s empire "over the impious, the idolators and Muslims" (TD 49), receiving the deluge of fire that will empower them to convert "Muslims, idolators and even Jews"... (PM 17).

The hour of My coming is near! But I will show mercy. A most dreadful punishment will bear witness to the times. My angels, who are to be the executioners of this work, are ready with their pointed swords! They will take special care to annihilate all those who mocked Me and would not believe in My revelations.

Hurricanes of fire will pour forth from the clouds and spread over the entire earth! Storms, bad weather, thunderbolts and earthquakes will cover the earth for two days. An uninterrupted rain of fire will take place! It will begin during a very cold night. All this is to prove that God is the Master of Creation. Those who hope in Me, and believe in my words, have nothing to fear because I will not forsake them, nor those who spread My message. No harm will come to those who are in the state of grace and who seek My mother's protection.

That you may be prepared for these visitations, I will give you the following signs and instructions: The night will be very cold. The wind will roar. After a time, thunderbolts will be heard. Lock all the doors and windows. Talk to no one outside the house. Kneel down before a crucifix, be sorry for your sins, and beg My Mother's protection. Do not look during the earthquake, because the anger of God is holy! Jesus does not want us to behold the anger of God, because God's anger must be contemplated with fear and trembling.

Those who disregard this advice will be killed instantly. The wind will carry with it poisonous gases which will be diffused over the entire earth. Those who suffer and die innocently will be martyrs and they will be with Me in My Kingdom.

Satan will triumph! But after three nights, the earthquake and fire will cease. On the following day the sun will shine again. angels will descend from Heaven and will spread the spirit of peace over the earth. A feeling of immeasurable gratitude will take possession of those who survive this terrible ordeal-the impending punishment-with which God has visited the earth since creation.
