A “great multitude” followed their “guide” Judas to come to take Jesus away…..
Mat 26:47-50 KJV
(47) And while he yet spake, lo, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and elders of the people.
….and this is still going on today.
The great multitude come with “swords”….causing divisions among us…and they come with their “staves” (their “timber”….the dead wood of their church handwritings that causes their congregations to stumble.)
They come with a feigned “kiss” ….the flattering lips….their good words and fair speeches…in order to deceive the hearts of the simple.
This is their “sign” given to them by Judas…those who are flattered by their “kiss” are easily deceived.
The hearts of the simple easily fall for those who flatter them.
Yet, they are seizing the power of the cross of Christ so that His life is never made manifest in the mortal flesh (the revealing of the Son of man) of those who fall for their deception.

(48) Now he that betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he: hold him fast.
And they want you to “rejoice” with them. “Hail” = rejoice. They come as "friends" and want us to rejoice along with them.
(49) And forthwith he came to Jesus, and said, Hail, (REJOICE) master; and kissed him.
(50) And Jesus said unto him, Friend, wherefore art thou come? Then came they, and laid hands on Jesus, and took him.
They come to us and want us to “rejoice” (Godspeed = rejoice) with them. But those who are bidding them,,,the followers of Judas... “rejoice” are partakers of their evil deeds.
2Jn 1:10-11
(10) If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:
(11) For he that biddeth him God speed (REJOICE) is partaker of his evil deeds.
We must avoid them for they are not serving the Lord Jesus Christ…but only for their own belly that they want to fill with the “sop”….a crumb/morsel/mouthful.
Rom 16:16-18
(16) Salute one another with an holy kiss. The churches of Christ salute you.
(17) Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.
(18) For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.
Having received the sop, Judas went out immediately and it was “night”.
There is no knowledge in the great multitude who are following in his footsteps. It is “night” to them. The “sop” = a crumb/morsel…a mouthful. They are thinking now with their belly which blinds their minds to the gospel of the glory of Christ who is the image of God. The gospel is being hid from their minds.

(30) He then having received the sop went immediately out: and it was night.
The sop is “dipped” as the crumb is worked hard for by those who give it to them.
Joh 13:26
(26) Jesus answered, He it is, to whom I shall give a sop, when I have dipped it. And when he had dipped the sop, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.
The crumb is whelmed in fluid as it is earned in the “sweat of the face” for….and they give it to those who are only serving (supposedly for the Lord Jesus Christ) for their own belly.

(19) In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
They have become ministers of Satan by doing so.
John 13: 27) And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus unto him, That thou doest, do quickly.
It is “night” to them as the god of this world ( their belly) has blinded their minds to the gospel of the glory of Christ who is the image of God.

(3) But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
(4) In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
(5) For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake.
Like Judas, they went out from the apostles but they were not of them. Judas went out from among the disciples and it was "night"....as those who follow him do not have any understanding of the gospel of truth.

(18) Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.
(19) They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.
And they do not bring you this doctrine: that Jesus IS COMING now in our mortal flesh as His life is supposed to be made manifest there (the revealing of the Son of man to this world). They do not understand the gospel of the glory of Christ who is the image of God…and they do not preach it to you.

(7) For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
(8) Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.
(9) Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
