Hey,this came to me in a dream last night! Things have come to me in a dream several times now! My dream was this- the wise man stores up treasure for himself in heaven, while the foolish man stores up treasure for himself on the earth. Why is storing up treasure for yourself on the earth foolish? I believe it is because the scripture says there is going to come a day when nothing that happened on this earth will even be remembered anymore! This is the nature of wisdom! I think there is more to this that has not come yet, if it comes I will let you know!

Hello Dave (@Dave Darling), there is this thought (from the Lord) to consider as well.

Luke 12
33 Sell your possessions and give to charity; make yourselves purses which do not wear out, an unfailing treasure in heaven, where no thief comes near, nor moth destroys.
34 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

So, storying up "treasure" in this world instead of in the next also causes us to have the wrong focus (on this world and the things in it .. e.g. 1 John 2:15-16, instead of where it needs to be, on Him and our future life with Him in the age to come).

God bless you!!

Storing wealth is greed and love for money. And its not obedient to the teaching of Christ and his apostles

I think you miss the point of what he was saying. In
Matthew 6:19-21. Jesus says:

"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

No. I don't misunderstand. He says that storing wealth will blind you and fill your body with darkness. In Matthew 13 he said that the cares of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth cause us to become unfruitful. Paul said that desiring wealth is a sinful trap.

This has to do with earthly treasures. Jesus said our treasure is to be in heaven. We are to give and God gives us back more than we gave. The more I give the more I seem to have in return. Are you suggesting we should quit giving all our stuff away so God will quit giving us more?

Luke 6:38

King James Version

38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

Why would God tell you not to have wealth but then give you wealth?

What scripture are we talking about here? My reference was to treasures in Heaven.

Matthew 6 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.

I'm referring to Matthew chapter 6 as well. Jesus said that wealth on earth is wrong.

That was my question. He says to give and He will give back onto us. So the more we give the more He gives us. Back in the 70's I lived out of a back pack for three months. In the Army we lived out of a duffel bag and most of what you have is given to you. Does it make people more spiritual to live a spartan life?

Godliness is not about financial gain. All of the apostles were poor like Jesus was.

It should give them a pretty good idea of how what this world deems worthy is in fact not. Consider that the earliest followers of Jesus were slaves, servants and women. These were the oppressed of the day who understood the wisdom behind the ways of God's kingdom.
