Of course, if one wanted to invade Ohio with gunboats the way to get there is to start up the Mississippi (remembering to turn right when you get to Illinois.)

One can navigate upriver from New Orleans to the state of Ohio. But as my friend noted, you have to remember to take a hard right-hand turn near Cairo, IL and depart the Mississippi to the Ohio River.

The US Economy looks quite healthy at first glance but the real issues about debt, deficits, and the unequal distribution of the benefits of growth are not being discussed at all. It is a kind of collective con that both Democrats and Republicans seem to buy into. Declining Social Mobility, the extraordinary waste of resources in the health sector are a big problem. No one is talking.
