A good post from Hebrew4Christians' Facebook post (as usual):
  1. The first letter of the Hebrew alphabet, the letter Aleph (א), pictures the Word of God (דְּבַר הָאֱלהִים), the Holy Beginning.
  2. Aleph is "three-in-one," constructed from two Yods (signifying "yadayim," or "hands") joined by a diagonal Vav (representing a man). One Yod (י) reaches upward while the other reaches downward, and both extend from the "fallen" Vav (ו) that pictures a "wounded Man" or Mediator (1 Tim. 2:5).
  3. In the Hebrew numbering system, Yod = 10 and Vav = 6, so adding up the three parts of Aleph yields 26, the same value as the Name of the LORD, YHVH (יהוה). All of this linked together, friends. The very first letter of the holy alphabet, the "king of the letters," pictures the loving Word of God who mediates heaven and earth so that we can experience and know the meaning and blessing of God’s redeeming love.
  4. Similarly, the first letter of the Bible is the Bet (בּ) in bereshit (בְּרֵאשִׁית), and the last is the Nun (ן) in amen (אָמֵן). Put together, we have ben (בֵּן), the Hebrew word for “son.” Yeshua, God the Son, therefore is rightly called "the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of God's creation” (Rev. 3:14). He is the "radiance of the glory of God" (זוֹהַר כְּבוֹדוֹ), the "exact imprint of his nature," the One who upholds (φέρων) the universe by the very word of His power (Heb. 1:3).

Eh - NO.

Any point you try to make from the shape of Hebrew letters needs to go to ancient Paleo Hebrew forms, NOT the Formal script we now are familiar with which came from Aramaic. Torah was written originally in the ancient script. In that "font," the Aleph is the sign of a head of an ox.

1. Yod means "hand". You could see in the pictograph of Yod.
scripts-yod.gif

2. Vav is the picture of Man (Gematria of Vav is 6)
  • Man was created on the 6th day
  • Man works for 6 days - the realm of the "chol" and the mundane
  • There are 6 millennia before the coming of the Mashiach
  • The "beast" is identified as the "number of a man" - 666 (Rev 13:18)

Maybe it is "God's plan", Ezra the Scribe used Aramaic characters (Ketav Ashurith) to replace the Palaeo-Hebrew characters (Ketav Ivri) and gave them to the Samaritans ("The Chuteans") to write their Samaritan Torah.
Maybe it is to reveal hidden meanings of some characters.

Sanhedrin 21b:

"Mar Zutra or, as some say, Mar 'Ukba said: Originally the Torah was given to Israel in Hebrew characters and in the sacred [Hebrew] language; later, in the times of Ezra, the Torah was given in Ashshurith script and Aramaic language. [Finally], they selected for Israel the Ashshurith script and Hebrew language, leaving the Hebrew characters and Aramaic language for the hedyototh. Who are meant by the 'hedyototh'? — R. Hisda answers: The Cutheans (i.e., Samaritans).; And what is meant by Hebrew characters? — R. Hisda said: The libuna'ah script."

Or not. I see no "hidden meaning" in the Aramaic characters. However the pictographs of the ancient "early" alephbet carry a wealth of information that is LOST in the transition to the other font face.

So, what is the hidden meanings of Aleph in its Palaeo-Hebrew pictograph form?

Maybe, it means only "the strong(est)" character of all. "The king/leader of all letters".

Indeed. "Strength of an ox."

I agree with @DaveW-Ohev about the need to use the earlier font if one is going to make a substantial point with the letters. The ox is interesting... the first letter of the alef-beit, the Israelites made a young bull (calf) out of gold and called it, "YHWH." It seems that they were using this idol as a representation of YHWH, and thus the "calf" (young bull) probably had less to do with Egyptian gods and more to do with the fact that if YHWH is the first and last, the alef and tav, that this idol was actually based on HIM even though the practice of making an idol to represent a god was Egyptian and thus pagan.

We see strength in the alef which can depict power and authority.

Says ΙΑΩΑ Elohim the Almighty: I am the ΩΑ (normally "I am He").
Yeshayah 41:4, 43:10, 43:13, 46:4, 48:12, 52:6, (אני הוא [1QIsaa — אני הואה])

הו|אה (1QIsaa) ~ Oh Ah :D

Also ΙΑΩΑ is based on the Trigrammaton, (ΙΑΩ).
