  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The agreement between Iran and the world powers is the most important event in the Middle East. Inside Muslim world this will be considered a Shi’ite-Sunni split.

Sunni countries such as Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Turkey, which are concerned about Shi’ite Iran and seek to maintain their dominance in the region, are more than likely to enter the arms race in an effort to become nuclear threshold states. This is because they, like us, have their suspicions that Iran will again cheat the West and find a way to bypass the agreement.

And the money that will begin flowing into the Iranian economy as the sanctions are lifted may also expand the resources made available to the regime of President Bashar Assad in Syria, Hezbollah in Lebanon, Hamas and Islamic Jihad in Gaza, and the Houthi rebels in Yemen. What is your first clue this deal will not bring peace to the region or the world?
