Yesterday, we reflected on the first chapter of Revelation. And I wrote about finding the Core Word/Theme of any chapter. I also focused on the general and specific Words/Themes. The specific Word/Theme "Christ" is the theme of the first chapter in the general Word/Theme of "Revelation". In other words, the first chapter reveals the "Revelation of Christ" in the specific and general sense. It reveals that Jesus Christ is coming soon. This Revelation also reveals that Jesus Christ is no longer an innocent lamb of God who has laid down His life for this world. Rather He is coming to judge all. How Jesus looks is all revealed in this chapter. This is important here again, I do not take the Core Word/Theme in the specific sense of "Revelation". If we take "Revelation" and study this chapter, it will become information. This is why the Core Word/Theme "Christ" in the specific sense is taken to find the insights of the text. I repeat, the Bible is not based on information it is based on insights.
So, the question is, how Jesus looks is the insights of the Bible, and what Jesus does are findings of the Bible that provide us the insights.
"He was dressed in a long robe and had a gold band around his chest. His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like flames of fire. His feet were like bronze that glows hot in a furnace, and his voice was like the noise of flooding water. He held seven stars in his right hand, and a sharp double-edged sword came out of his mouth. He looked like the sun shining at its brightest time (
Revelation 1:13-16). Jesus' dress, head, hair, eyes, feet, voice, holding stars in his right hand, and a sharp double-edged sword came out of his mouth. He looked like the sun shining at its brightest time, these all are insights of this first chapter about Jesus Christ.
Why does Jesus look in this way? Jesus is a high priest(long robe and had a gold band around his chest), an ancient of Days (head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow), his eyes demonstrate the scene of Judgment, His feet glows in a hot furnace indicates His authority which is forever, etc. These all are insights about Christ in the first chapter.
Now link each and every word, or incident whether it belongs to the Church, John, or anything in this chapter to the specific Word/Theme.
