kaf - the PALM of the HAND (Jesus and the Hebrew alphabet)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The next letter KAF, is also a hand, but this time it is a BENT or cupped hand, the "hollow" of the hand. Kaf can also be the hollow of a ROCK.

The common idea is that of protection, or shaping(bending into shape or likeness of something)

The kaf is used as a prefix to mean "like" or "as". It is the 11th letter, right at the "folding" point (11th out of 22 letters) of the alphabet. It is the only symetrical letter (it could be "folded" into two equal parts) The phrase "like him" is found 11 times in scripture.

Our shaping or "bending" to the likeness of Christ is likened in scripture to the refining of metal. We are put through the "furnace" of tests and trials and brought for "as gold".

The first use of the word "kaf" is in Gen 32:25 where God touches the "hollow" (kaf) of Jacob's thigh when he wrestled with the "angel". That kind of sums up the spiritual meaning of the kaf.

Isa 48:10 Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction.
Zec 13:9 And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It [is] my people: and they shall say, The LORD [is] my God.
Mal 3:3 And he shall sit [as] a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the LORD an offering in righteousness.
