This letter was the one that finally convinced me there was something to this. So if you've been sceptical until now, try looking at this one. ....or, if you only read one of these posts, THIS is the one to read.
The letter HEY is all about GRACE.....the infusion of the very BREATH or EXISTENCE of God within us. It is symbolized by the PIERCING of Christ's side and the BLOOD and WATER coming out of the very HEART of GOD.
For those of you who are familiar with Michael Rood's teachings on the feasts, etc. you already see more significance to the blood and water.
.........................
Before I go further, it is helpful to know the close relationship between the two Hebrew letters Hey and CHet. Both have an "H" sound, the second being a more harsh gutteral sound, kind of like a gross clearing of the throat.....anyway, they both have a connotation to them of LIFE. The word for "existence" in Hebrew starts with the hey.....hey/vav/hey and is the source of the proper name of God-Yaweh (yod/hey/vav/hey). Other related words mean "to breathe" or "to become".
The "LIFE" words beginning with the "other" H letter-CHET, have a meaning of active "LIVING" or a "living creature" or "remaining alive, restored to life, sustaining of life, etc".
SO, its kind of like the hey brings about chet (the breath of life brings about the living or activity of life)...it is the letter of CHANGE.........
In the following, since I cannot put in the Hebrew type, I will use capital H for the harsher Hebrew letter chet, and a small h for the letter hey
.............................
The ancient letter HEY was a picture of a window. The Hebrew word for window is "Hallown". It comes from the ROOT "Halal" which means to wound (fatally), bore through, or PIERCE, because a window is a "wound", or "piercing" in a wall. From the same ROOT comes the Hebrew word Hallah, which are the cakes of unleavened bread used for offerings and for the Table of Shewbread in the Temple. They are so called because they are "PIERCED".
...............
The letter hey is also used for the number FIVE. The word for FIVE is "Hamesh". Variant forms of the word mean "stout", "fattened", "obese", "abdomen". In the OT there are FOUR occassions of a stabbing in "the FIFTH". In parenthesis there is added the word "rib", to make it understandable in the English. The phrase is an idiom describing the place in the upper abdomen at the bottom of the heart (pericardium sac around the heart) which is the place of most FATAL PIERCING. The first occurance of this phrase of being stabbed "in the FIFTH" is in II Samuel, when Abner kills Asahel, and three more such stabbings follow in the OT. The FIFTH person to be "PIERCED" in this spot is Christ on the Cross. We know it is this same place of the pericardium because both "blood and water" came out, indicating he was dead. The Greek word for this place in the side is "pleura" and occurs FIVE times in the NT...the first four in the account of Christ's piercing, and the fifth in this verse about Peter:
Act 12:7 And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon [him], and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from [his] hands.
Peter was under a sentence of death in prison and the striking on the side by the "Angel of the Lord".."raised him up" and "his chains fell off".....interesting wording that seems to be symbolic.
This very same word-HAMESH is used to describe how the children of Israel marched out of Egypt. Some translations say "harnessed" meaning in columns of FIVE. Others say it means they came out "fattened up" because of the riches from the Egyptians. Either could be correct, but both are symbolic of the GRACE of God delivering them from their bondage.
...........................
Back to the blood and water..........in the OT these were used in the sacrifice for leprosy (a type of sin)........and also by Moses in Ex 24:6-8. The water is not mention in the passage from Exodus, but from the NT passage describing the same event, we know that the blood was mixed with water:
Hbr 9:19-20 For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and of goats, WITH WATER, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all the people, Saying, This [is] the blood of the testament which God hath enjoined unto you.
Deut 12:13-16 Take heed to thyself that thou offer not thy burnt offerings in every place that thou seest: But in the place which the LORD shall choose in one of thy tribes, there thou shalt offer thy burnt offerings, and there thou shalt do all that I command thee..... Deu 12:16 Only ye shall not eat the blood; ye shall pour it upon the earth as water.
Christ blood was pour upon the earth as water, and in fact mixed with water as the perfect type of the sacrifice for sin.
Again, for any of you who have watch the Rood teachings, he believes it also went into the earth and onto the Ark below.
........................
The letter hey as a WORD can mean "lo!" or "behold", the connection being that one beholds through a WINDOW.
The first use of this word is in Genesis 47:20 regarding Joseph (a type of Christ) and the way his plan worked to save the Egyptians from the seven years of drought:
Gen 47:20 And Joseph bought all the land of Egypt for Pharaoh; for the Egyptians sold every man his field, because the famine prevailed over them: so the land became Pharaoh's.
Gen 47:21-26 And as for the people, he removed them to cities from [one] end of the borders of Egypt even to the [other] end thereof. Only the land of the priests bought he not; for the priests had a portion [assigned them] of Pharaoh, and did eat their portion which Pharaoh gave them: wherefore they sold not their lands. Then Joseph said unto the people, BEHOLD (hey), I have bought you this day and your land for Pharaoh: lo, [here is] seed for you, and ye shall sow the land. And it shall come to pass in the increase, that ye shall give the FIFTH[part] unto Pharaoh, and four parts shall be your own, for seed of the field, and for your food, and for them of your households, and for food for your little ones. And they said, Thou hast SAVED OUR LIVES: let us find GRACE in the sight of my lord, and we will be Pharaoh's servants. And Joseph made it a law over the land of Egypt unto this day, [that] Pharaoh should have the FIFTH[part]; except the land of the priests only, [which] became not Pharaoh's.
Here we see the EXACT same sybols........LIFE GIVEN, GRACE, and FIFTH.
The Hebrew word for GRACE is HANAN (Canaan -Kanan- is probably a pun, for it was the land of promise or grace)
..........................................
When Adam saw Eve, he said she was "isha" sp aleph/shin/HEY because she was taken from "ish" (man). The FEMININ ending is made with the letter HEY at the end. It comes from this first Female who was given LIFE by the PIERCING of the SIDE(rib.....the 5th rib?) of Adam.
Now to the NEW NAME thing ...........Abram's name...(aleph/bet/resh/mem) a FOUR letter name was changed to Abraham ..sp. - aleph/bet/resh/HEY/mem....a FIVE letter name by adding the letter HEY.
Sarai.....sp. shin/resh/yod was change to Sarah sp. shin/resh/HEY
The letter HEY was added to both their names.......fitting that they should be CHANGED with the letter of GRACE for Abraham is called the father of all who are counted righteous by FAITH:
Rom 4:16 Therefore [it is] of faith, that [it might be] by GRACE; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all.....
.......................
In the "hey" verses of Psalm 119, the final verse states:
Psa 119:40 BEHOLD!, I have longed after thy precepts: quicken(literally-make me ALIVE) me in thy righteousness.
..........................
The very first letter HEY is found in the HEART of the FIVE letter word for GOD ELOHIM sp. aleph/lamed/HEY/yod/mem.
........................
The FIFTH occurance of the word MYSTERY in the NT is in the following verse (this needs no explaination!):
1Cr 15:51 BEHOLD, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be CHANGED....
........................
The fifth feast is the Feast of Trumpets...many believe to a type of the "last trump" when Christ returns and we are CHANGED. The Hebrew word for the feast called literally "the blowing of trumpets" is t'ruwah sp. in Hebrew tav/reash/vav/ayin/HEY............a FIVE letter word, whose FIFTH letter is HEY!
......................
I never understood why the number FIVE was considered the number of GRACE until I did this study.
