That was a great book. I read it years ago. It reminds me of this now famous quote from Colbert's book a few years later:

“If this is going to be a Christian nation that doesn't help the poor, either we have to pretend that Jesus was just as selfish as we are, or we've got to acknowledge that He commanded us to love the poor and serve the needy without condition and then admit that we just don't want to do it.”

I listened to the audio book so I never knew that "Supply Side Jesus" was a cartoon.

Considering that the idea of Jesus being "supply-side" is a caricature of the Gospel message, I guess that's appropriate.
