Angel's names are not mentioned in scripture until the Book of Daniel.

Dan 10:13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia....21 But I will shew thee that which is noted in the scripture of truth: and there is none that holdeth with me in these things, but Michael your prince.

Dan 8:16 And I heard a man's voice between the banks of Ulai, which called, and said, Gabriel, make this man to understand the vision.

In Revelation we have the four faces.

Rev 4:7 And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle. 8 And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.

Six wings are an indication that they are archangels.

I think this is more to do with the task and responsibility that Michael has. Uriel warns the prophet Noah about the upcoming flood in Enoch chapter 10. In Enoch chapters 19 and 21, Uriel reveals that the fallen angels who rebelled against God will be judged and shows Enoch a vision of where they are

Enoch 21:3.. “bound, until the infinite number of the days of their crimes be completed”

2 Esdras 4:10 "You cannot understand the things with which you have grown up; how then can your mind comprehend the way of the Most High? And how can one who is already worn out by the corrupt world understand incorruption?"

When Ezra asks questions about his personal life, such as how long he’ll live, Uriel replies

He's name means "God is my light" and is considered to be the angel of wisdom. In Jewish tradition, Uriel is the one who checks the doors of homes throughout Egypt for lamb’s blood (representing faithfulness to God) during Passover, while a deadly plague strikes first-born children as a judgment for sin but spares the children of faithful families.

So you are saying its more a matter of Micheal and Gabriel being the two that have said purpose ? That seems to make sense to me...not that...that would be a measuring stick

In the Historiale of Eleazar ben Asher Ha-Levi, better known as the Chronicles of Jerahmeel, a wealth of interesting material is found relative to the various associations and symbolic meanings of the four camps.

Four example each of the camps have a cardinal direction, a banner, element, three stones, three astronomical signs, etc. Hence altogether 4 directions, 4 banners, 4 elements, 12 stones (as in the Hoshen) and 12 astronomical signs.

Here is an example:

The east is associated with the element of fire.

Hence the east is associated with the tribe of Judah, whose sign is Leo and whose stone is Sardius;
also the tribe of Issachar, whose sign is Aries and whose stone is Topaz;
also the tribe of Zebulon, whose sign is Sagittarius and whose stone is Carbuncle.

Each of the four directions was also associated with one of the four letters used to spell ABRM, YSHQ, YAQB.

Hence the east was associated with Alef, Yod and Yod;
the south associated with Beth, Sade and Ayin;
the west associated with Resh, Heth and Qof;
and the north associated with Mem, Qof and Beth.

Raphael is associated with healing. In Hebrew, Raphael means "God Heals". "Raphael" comes from the root word "rapha" in Hebrew which means "doctor" or "healer". In the books of Luke and John, there is a mention of the pool of Bethesda. The sick go there to wait for a movement of the water so that they can dive into it and be healed. Since Raphael is associated with healing, believers accept that Raphael is the angel who moves the water.

Archangels Michael, Uriel, Raphael, and Gabriel watch the Earth's corruption from heaven and express their concern to God. Then God assigns each one of them to do something about it. Here's how God instructs Raphael to punish the key Watcher demon, Azazel, and to heal the Earth from the damage the demons had caused.

Michael means in Hebrew &#8220;who is like God&#8221; or &#8220;who is as God.&#8221; He holds numerous offices in heaven: he is chief of the virtues and archangels, one of the angels of presemce, a prince of light, angel of truth, angel of repentance, righteousness, mercy, and salvation. Some of his roles overlap with those of other great archangels, Uriel, Gabriel, and Raphael; of the four, he is the primary aspect of the angel of the Lord. Michael also shares similarities with Metatron and Melchizedek. He also has duties as the angel of death.

In Daniel 10:13, Michael is named and described as &#8220;one of the chief princes, and in 10:21, &#8220;one having the appearance of a man&#8221; tells Daniel &#8220;there is none who contends by my side except Michael, your prince.&#8221; In Daniel 12:1, the prophecy of &#8220;the time of the end&#8221; states that:

Jude 1:8 makes a reference to the archangel Michael contending with Satan over the body of Moses. According to Jewish lore, Michael became angry at Satan&#8217;s contention that Moses was a murderer and therefore was not worthy of burial. Michael says to Satan, &#8220;The Lord rebuke you.&#8221;

In Rev 12:7&#8211;12, Michael and his legions battle Satan and his forces, and defeat them; they are thrown down.

Numerous other biblical references to &#8220;the Angel of Yahweh&#8221; and &#8220;the Angel of the Lord&#8221; are interpreted as meaning Michael. In Zech 3:1&#8211;2, an Angel of the Lord who is interpreted as Michael confronts Satan before God and the high priest Joshua, and he serves as guide to Zechariah in his vision. Michael as the Guardian Angel of the Hebrew nation, and the angel who wages ceaseless war against the forces of Satan.

Incidentally, Dudael has by some been identified with or correlated to somewhere in modern-day Iran. Others however suggest it may be in Egypt, and this theory typically connects Dudael, the opening to the Abyss, with the pyramids in one way or another (eg. the Great Pyramid of Giza is said to cover the literal opening to the Abusson / the Tahom / Dudael.)

Nothing in the first book of 1 Enoch (the book of the watchers) should be taken to imply that the Abyss MUST be a purely spiritual place. In fact the wording clearly shows it to be a place in a literal desert on earth. Only in the later parts / books of 1 Enoch do we find the implication that the Abyss is in the spiritual realm.

There may be some truth to this connection you have made.

There may be some truth to this connection you have made.

Well I didn't invent the idea.

I personally think Egypt probably qualifies as more of a "desert" than Persia does. (Dudael is said to be or contain a desert.)

Ancient Jewish tradition says that five measures of magic / witchcraft were allotted to the Goyim, and four fifths thereof landed in Egypt.
Hence the magic we see in India, Africa, South America and elsewhere is really just peanuts compared to what the sorcerors of Kemet (Mizraim, Misr, Egypt) were capable of !

The reason the first generation to leave Egypt was so stubborn and unimpressed by G-d and the Pillar of Fire and so on was exactly because they were so used to seeing magic and miracles in Egypt, performed by the Egyptiac sorcerors.
This also explains why Pharaoh and his court was so unimpressed by the miracles of Mosheh: they simply saw him as a rival magician, presuming to trick them using the same powers they themselves had mastered.

Tradition also connects Azazel to Egypt, in the same way Michael is connected to Israel, or Sar Peres is connected to Persia, or Sar Yavan to Greece.

Now, Azazel (like Satan) is connected with secrecy, hiddenness, hidden names, as well as revealing of forbidden secrets. They hide things that are meant to be clear, and make clear what is meant to be hidden. Hence it makes sense that Egypt would be connected to the occult, or in other words, the secret or forbidden magical arts, etc.

Notice that the sorcerors of Nebuchadnezzar in Babylon shied away from performing magic, knowing themselves incapable of magically discovering what Nebuchadnezzar dreamt (Daniel 2:5-11), whereas the Egyptiac sorcerors were apparently eager to impress Pharaoah by matching the magic of Moses (whom they saw as a rival magician.)

The implication is that if Pharaoh had asked his magicians to tell him his dream and then interpret it, the magicians would have been able to, unlike the lesser Babylonian magicians.

The angel Azazel was originally called Azaz-El, meaning the strong or mighty one of God, or according to a different way of reading, he who is belligerent toward God, strengthening or hardening himself against God.

However his name was changed to Az-Azel, meaning the goat of departure. As he descended from heaven and was cast into the abyss (called "Dudael" in the book of Enoch, and traditionally corresponding to the "Tahom" in Genesis) so likewise the goat was cast every year into the abyss on Yom Kippur.

This same Azazel corresponds to the "Abaddon" who is released from the abyss in Revelation 9:11.

So far, two thirds of the vision is fulfilled. But the third part of the vision is not yet fulfilled that foretells of an invasion of the United States.

Hoshiyya, very good points that you made and very intriguing. Something that I have never even considered to be a possibility. But when one really looks into this it would make perfect sense and probably answers a lot of questions.

At the time of Moses and through out history wasn't Egypt the most powerful country and influenced many?

Moses when he was taken in by Pharoah's daughter would he not have been brought up to partake of the witchcraft and magic? Surely he would have been taught this being so close to the Pharoah of his time. And I am sure that he saw the many mysterious things going on.

This is so true. And I have seen many, but in reality nothing surpasses what took place in Egypt. To this day many are intrigued by Ancient Egypt and it's ways and thoughts.

If this is the case than it sounds like Daniel was born and living during the time of Egypt and Moses. Where is this ever in the bible? Was not Daniel a captive in Babylon? And did the captivity happen at the time of Moses? I have always believed that the two incidents were separate.

Is this taken from the Talmud? And if so where do they get this idea from?

Also was not Daniel speaking of what was going to take place in the future? Instead of in Egypt? Because I believe that Daniel was talking about the time that we are currently in. Not what happened in Egypt.
