On Jan. 20th the movie "The End of the Spear" is comming out. This is the story of the 5 missionaries who were killed in Ecuador and how the tribe was ultamately changed because of them. How are you planing on getting your unsaved friends out to see this amazing movie? Do you have any stories about how this story changed your life?

wouldn't it be great if it turned out to be a great hit... and then perhaps hollywood will jump in and make MORE REALISTIC CHRISTIAN movies. I mean I know they tried with spiritual movies that are not really Christian. But maybe this will be a jump to it. Who knows. :) Just a thought

I TOO am/have been very excited about the release of this movie and plan on encouraging unsaved friends and family to see it.

HOWEVER, I am troubled about some things I have discovered. The star of the movie, Chad Allen, is a gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender activist. Look at his website. Also another actor Jack Guzman has acted in plays w/hmsxl content along with the director Leonardo Lorenzo. Why has a "Christian" production company hired these men?

re: Chad Allen

yeah, he is obviously in sin. so is Jim Caviezel, and even many actors in the Christian industry. I'd be more concerned about the director and writer, which are all believers. In the case of ministering, those are who are communicating our message...the actors are just some of the best means. I'd rather have actors in sin and have a well-acted movie than a hokey-acted movie with righteous actors, but that's my personal preference.

re: Beyond the Gates of Splendor

I really enjoyed this documentary, and because I liked it so much, I really don't know if I want to see the movie. I mean...everything was communicated so well and with such primary information, I don't see how the movie could own up to the emotions conveyed through "Beyond the Gates..."

Except that this was not made by Hollywood, but by a Christian company. I found this out by going to the website and doing some background checking out of it. Very exciting!:clap:

I want to see it, but the nakedness turns me off. Call me a baby! lol. Of course, I don't condemn anyone who goes to see it. I thank God for those missionaries! They are an inspiration to us all! (0;

I heard on the radio the guy speak who's father was one of the missionaries. This guy was a 10 year old at the time. He talked about how he and his mom went and visited, then witnessed to the Indians. The boy eventually meets the indian leader who had actually killed his father. The indian becomes a Christian and sort-of "adopts" the boy. They become very close. Sounds like a great story of forgiveness!

A huge distinction can be made between Jim Caviezel and Chad Allen. Don't know exactly what Jim's sin is but I'm pretty sure he is not claiming to be a Christian and giving his life to promote worldwide acceptance of it like Chad is. He didn't take his role of Jesus in The Passion in order to advance an agenda for his favorite sin as Chad did.

I agree about whether you choose an actor for a role BECAUSE he is a Christian though not the best actor or vice versa. As I've heard before: Kirk Cameron can't play every part in Christian films. ha ha If I had a choice between a so-so Christian surgeon and an excellent non-believer, you know who I'd choose.

Every Tribe Entertainment cast Chad without knowing much about him, which I find incredible. Don't they look at portfolios? They said they never would have hired him had they known but once they found out, they couldn't in good conscience fire him, which I certainly agree with. They also went on to discuss the sovereignty of God and how He can work to bring good in less than favorable situations. So...they did the right thing after not doing their job thoroughly - which is better than I can say for myself many times.
