A few days ago I came across an article that said something about the "Bible diet".... I first took it as a weird joke, but as I was reading on, I realized that it was quite...hmm.. true! It's based on a diet that people had back in the times of the Old and New Testament in the Bible. For instance, you should avoid pork and eat a lot of fruits and vegetables and even drink goat milk instead. It's allegedly a big thing in the US, there are even preachers roaming the US and giving sermons on the Bible Diet! :D It still sounds somewhat amusing to me, but has anyone in here tried this kind of diet? If yes, is there any weekly diet plan available, or how did you manage that?

I don't follow it precisely, but the principles make perfect sense. For example, God doesn't tell us in the bible why to avoid shellfish (they are scavengers of the sea), but we know that there are high instances of spoilage/food poisoning compared to other types of foods. Also, the bible says to not eat pork. We know that it tends to carry a lot of saturated fat, which causes health problems. Although God never says why to avoid certain foods, He does say to avoid them. Over many years, we have learned some of the negative consequences of eating those foods. I do avoid those foods as much as possible, but I do admit to occasionally eating a pork chop or shrimp, but not very often.

I don't know if its the same thing but i have a book called "God's Key to Health and Happiness" by Elmer A. Josephson which talks about the dietary laws of the OT like not eating pork, not eating shellfish, the dangers of processed and refined foods like sugar and white flour, etc.
then there is the "Hallelujah Diet" which is basically fruit and vegetables, mostly raw..its the "garden of eden" type diet.

There is also a Book out there called "The Maker's Diet". It sounds alot like the Bible diet. It's a 40 day plan that detoxifies your body and get's you back to a sense of well being. And you can lose wieght on it.

Friend of mine lent me her copy of The Makers Diet. I read it straight through and really enjoyed it. We have since bought our own copy. We have started on some supplements and soon we're going to tackle the 40 day diet itself. I highly recommend that people read this book. It is worth it.

We were literally eating ourselves to disease and death with all this processed junk grocery stores and fast food restaurants feed us. Something had to change and it's not like those businesses really care that much about our well being. As long as they're making money selling us their food, why would they care?

God bless!

Matthew 15:11 What defiles a person is not what goes into the mouth; it is what comes
out of the mouth that defiles a person.”

Jesus was reffering to this very diet when He said this.

It's not a sin to not follow the diet, but it is probably healthier to follow it.

I'd have to agree with "All things through Christ" because I have heard of lots of people trying such diets and have even known a couple. But you have to think clearly - food isn't what it was back then. MANY things have changed on earth and in our atmosphere, and in our food etc, etc. There are many healthy concepts, but I have heard stories of people living off of this diet who eventually got REALLY sick. Because if you live strictly on what the Old Testament says to live on, your body doesn't get the vitamins and nutritions it needs nowadays. My mom is all into healthy food and has researched and looked through all types of things like this. I'm not just getting my opinion out of thin air.

Say you live on only certain foods. Unless you grow them in your backyard, they are being processed through this big huge chain of events. Back in the Old Testament they DID grow their food right there on their property. No toxins, no add-ins, no steroids... etc.. etc.

I'm not against dieting and even avoiding a lot of the foods the Bible says to avoid - just because it IS healthy. But it can also be very UNhealthy to live completely on the "Bible Diet".

Just some thoughts..

in Christ,
danielle b

I've heard of a meal replacement bar that has all sorts of supplements and spices in it based from what people ate in the bible. I wanted to try one but have never been able to find them. Does anyone know the name of it?
