TET - the SERPENT (Jesus and the Alphabet)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tet is the 9th letter of the Hebrew Alphabet. It is the picture of a SERPENT. The ancient letter was nearly the same only with a cross in the center.
It is interesting to note that in a very large number of languages a word exists of close resemblance to TET that means death. Now in phonetics a "T" and a "D" are very interchangable sounds between languages, both sounds being made with the same motion of the teeth, only the amount of force being different, making even our own word "DEAT(H) among that list of death words. Now, why so many evidences of the serpent (TET) being related to DEATH if the account in Genesis isn't true and common knowledge from the beginning?
The existance of a cross inside the more ancient letter form may indicate the original righteous state of Satan before he fell, or the image of Christ as the sepent on the pole.(John 3:14) I never understood this verse very well until I studied this letter. John Gills commentary on this verse is also very helpful.

Briefly he mentions that the serpent on the pole in the wilderness was "in form only" and not of the real nature of a serpent, just as Christ was made to be sin for us, but he was not himself of a sinful nature, but made in the sinful likeness of mans flesh.(Rom 8:3)
I also now understand more the connection of the number 9 and judgment. TET is the 9th letter. The word for nine in Hebrew is tish'ah. It come from the ROOT sha'ah, which means to "regard or gaze upon". It is first used when God "regarded" Abel's sacrifice and did not "regard" Cain's. So it has the meaning of "looking at or regarding" in a judging or discerning way.
The word l'shapote has the same gematria as TET and it means "to judge".
The letter TET(sp. tet/yod/tet) is not spelled out in scripture, however it's closest cognate word TET(sp tet/yod/tav) means "MIRY CLAY" (that state of judgment we were in before God delivered us).
The first word to start with a tet is the word GOOD. Now this may at first seem puzzling, considering the tet is a serpent,.....but did not the greatest good come from God changing what seemed to be the greatest sin (Christ crucified) into the greatest good. ALL things work together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. No matter how evil the intention and how horrible the crime Satan construes, our God is able to turn it to the believers good and foil Satan at the same time!!
One more interesting thing I learned in this study. The above mentioned word "l'shapote", is found with this spelling only once in scripture. It is in I Chron 16:33-35 at the end of an account about NINE named levites who were appointed to minister beofre the ark of the LORD. Part of the praise was with HARPS and one of the harpist's names was Jehiel. When looking up the meaning of his name, I found it meant "God sweeps away evil", which reminded me of another harp player, David, who was hired to "sweep away evil" spirits from Saul. This interested me enough to look into the Hebrew word for harps and it is "Gennesaret" which is the Hebrew name for the Sea of GALILEE....only the "Galilean" can drive away evil spirits! I always wondered why God chose that instrument to drive away the spirits.
