31Therefore I tell you, people will be forgiven for every sin and blasphemy, but blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. 32Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.

Is this still true today?

There was something similar to this on another topic thread about the "one unforgiveable sin" and that was to deny Christ/God. I'm thinking there's always room for a person to accept Christ/God before he/she dies and repent his/her actions before the very end of life. Backing up a bit, the way I reason and understand the scripture, if someone's talking bad about God, is the worst possible schmoo on the face of the planet, yet repents totally and sincerely and accepts Christ; well then he or she is forgiven.
I'm around old people a lot in my line of work, and many nonbelievers before they died - accepted Jesus before the end (some even right at the moment of the end as we could see it - but as to what goes on when they can no longer respond to us is between them and God)

Of course all of Jesus' teachings such as the one you quote are still valid today. In fact Jesus promised that His teachings would never disappear - for all eternity.Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is the only sin that neither God or Jesus will forgive. There are obvious ways to insult and abuse the Holy Spirit but the most common blasphemy occurs when "ye of little faith" deny the miracle working power of the Holy Spirit in people's lives and instead claim that the miracles they observe must be do to the working of Satan. It's hard to get much worse than that.Tragically this claim is made periodically by deceived people who think the Holy Spirit is either dead or seriously ill and no longer interveans in people's lives. They actually show more faith in Satan than God by giving Satan the credit for the Holy Spirit's miraclles.
