I was thinking about the size of the heaven on earth of the new jerusalem. Now its big as far as i can understand, about half the US in a cube shape. Ok but is there a number on the amount that will be in heaven? I know some say 144k(Jehovas witness) but is there any other indecation. It cant be to many since the new Jerusalem is big but not that big considering the billions upon billions that have lived on this earth since the begining of time......does this bother anyone else?

a. Here is a quote from [The Jewish Festivals] regarding the Passover: “Jerusalem was so crowded at this period that the very fact that everybody was able to find accommodations somehow, somewhere, was declared to be one of the miracles of God.”
b. “The area of the Temple became so big that almost half a million worshipers could enter the Temple Mount at the same time during the three big festivals. Tradition tells that they stood crowded, but when they bowed down, there was sufficient space to do so comfortably. This was one of the miracles which occurred in the Temple.” [http://216.109.117.135/search/cache...orshipers+could"&d=69AB67B37F&icp=1&.intl=us]

It's 1500 miles square by 1500 miles high which allows for multiple layers.

We had fun with this last year trying to figure out how large the average mansion could be assuming a 30% salvation rate, etc. etc..... Also, although there are billions alive today on earth, this is the largest population ever. So maybe there are 2-3 billion nominal Christians alive today but only 1/3 are born-again Christians. Anyway, at a mansion size of 2,000 sq ft something like hundreds of billions of people could live very comfortably! It's a fun exercise.

So... don't worry, there's lots of room. And many, many more than 144,000 are going to heaven!

My two cents--

The writer is not giving an exact measurement--it's metaphorical.

Or, perhaps, the writer only gave the 3-dimensional measurements. If we were to occupy addtional dimensions in our resurrected bodies (as Jesus himself seemed to do) then perhaps one square foot, multi-dimensionally, would be sufficient to house the entire population of earth throughout history.

I understand the desire to want to understand how things will work, but at the same time I have to tell you your time can be better spent. I hope to one day know exactly how it all works, from personal experience, but until then I just accept the fact that God can do anything he desires and if Jesus could feed as many as he did with as little as he had (the fish and bread story) then anything along these lines is certainly possible.
