I know this is supposed to be an "introduce yourself" forum post, but the reason I registered to this site was to get help finding a teen study for my youth group and I can't figure out how to create a thread/post anywhere else.
Anyways, I am a 20 year old youth intern at my church in Seattle, WA. I grew up in this church, so I know it and the students very well. I have a huge heart for these kids and my goal in this ministry is to help mentor them so that they continue to stick to their faith despite the temptations of the secular world.
In a couple weeks, the youth group is going on a 4 day retreat, for which I will be teaching a 5 or 6 part study. I am hoping to find an already written study to guide my lessons, but decent studies are so hard to find! My kids are smart and most have been raised in the church, so they have been hearing Bible stories and learning about God their entire lives. Speaking from experience, since a short time ago I was a student in the youth group, these kids need more of a challenge. With the world being so in peril to violence and strife and everything else that is displayed in our news headlines, I want these kids to gain knowledge in how to be a Christian as an adult in the real world.
Basically what I'm looking for is a study that is not so wishy-washy and all "just be nice to your enemies" and "Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice so that we could receive grace." They get that. They've been learning that their entire lives. I want something to challenge them. Like why suffering happens. Or something that involves more exegetical practices. I want these kids to have a solid foundation so I'm looking for a study that maybe addresses some of the actual issues that are in the real world. I want them to be educated about their faith.
