  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I thought I'd share something on the SOTE sub-forum, before I go on my trip to a notorious place. Here's a guy I met on FishEaters, Roger Buck, a former New Ager and Cafeteria catholic. He's the author of The Gentle Traditionalist (http://mybook.to/TheGentleTraditionalist) and Cor Jesu Sacratissimum (http://mybook.to/CorJesu)

I really love his testimony on the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and the huge role it played in his conversion:

I really love what he said about the Catholic Faith giving him human-ness, I can relate to that a lot, I really did feel sub-human before my reversion to the One True Faith. Also, it's quite interesting how it was the Sacred Heart, not so much, arguing and reasoning that got Roger Buck to drop his Cafeteria catholicism. I'm planning on trying something, when I get back, that might actually help open the minds of modernist and cafeteria catholics to the truth. After all, what makes Traditional Catholic practices ideal, are not their rationality, but rather, the fact that they're Theo-centric, our greatest weapons against modernists and cafeteria catholics aren't logic reason, it's God and His Beloved Mother, the Exterminatrix of Heresies, we should be approaching modernists with them!

So Roger Buck, what do you think, should we try to be more gentle Traditionalists? What do think of his video on the Sacred Heart?
