Recurring dream about big, violent waves

The past six months or so I have been having a recurring dream about being on a beach and seeing giant, violent waves. The dream is always exactly the same.

I am standing on a cliff, but its not very high, and I am looking out at the ocean. The beach below is very, very narrow, maybe 10 or 15 feet. The waves come right up to the edge of the water and I rarely see them break. They are huge, Im a talking about 40-60 feet tall, and i am right at eye level with the middle of them because of the cliff I am standing on. The waves are dark and muddy, and the sky is overcast. And there are never any other people on the beach, just me. And I always have this fear being there, but its not something that I can explain.

I really wouldnt think too much of it, but I have had it five or six times. Can someone help me out?

a path-way or road. So this narrow way, is keeping your eyes on Jesus who is in front of you, leading..So allow him to lead.

You rarely see them break. This seems overwhelming because your at eye level with the middle of them. The cliff at this point could be representing your height, in the sense that your at eye level with muddy waves, that's overwhelming.., if you think about what the waves can represent. Emotion,knowledge, etc. Again you being at eye level can indicate to me that your trying to absorb something the LORD has revealed to you with your brain. So the emotion(waves) is above, below, and infront of you all encompassing. Again I think GOD is trying to tell you to humble yourself in some way, so that he can take charge. I think this because the Height that you are at. So you need his full-armour to withstand the waves.

The waves are dark and muddy, and the sky is overcast. And there are never any other people on the beach, just me.

The reason you can't is because you don't know, but God does, and he is definately trying to tell you to be still, death to self, and let him lead. He has probably reavealed some profound things and they have caused your heart to be touched with alot of emotion, but because you are trying with your mind to analyze it, it's overwhelming. I think he wants you to be still with it and let him lead. He has more things he wants to reveal to you, but if you take each thing he reveals and go off stepping this way and that way with it, you are not ready...So don't stiffle the Holy Spirit and just try to fellowship with God this part of his heart he is showing you. It's probably something that no one else around you is ready to receive so you need to fellowship it with GOD and rejoice and when you are ready for more ask "God show me more" and absorb and then let him lead you when he is ready.

I don't think that the dream is prophetic. While I have a fear in it, I know that nothing bad is going to happen, its just a fear of uncertainty.

Thank you sooo much for the time you took in replying to this thread. The majority of what you said makes perfect sense to me. I have been going through a lot in my life and have had a hard time letting God take control.

The only thing I don't understand is the error. I can't think of any big decisions that I have made since the dream started.

In the dream I have thought about going through the waves, but I know its impossible. For some reason I know there are really sharp rocks under the water so if I try to go through the waves I will be slammed onto the rocks and killed.

I see a parable in this news story. Notice the location - Solomon Islands. Solomon was known for his wisdom. Then, look at the day it happened - April Fools Day. I think this is about:

Isaiah 29:13-15 (New International Version)

I do understand what you are saying about not following God's plan and letting Him have control.

But I am still not understanding the difference between the muddy waves and the muddy water, because I think that both could apply to what I am going through now. But since I am not actually in the water in my dream does that make a difference?

This supports what I said before about putting the full armour of God on, and letting him lead you with the knowledge that you have now obtained through the truths that he has been revealing to you.

I don't think this is prophetic based on the parable of the news story...the reason being...that would require you to goto a news story...God is telling you everything you need to know within the symbols in your dream, he knows what those symbols represent to you...

This dream is definately Divine..it is God speaking to you through your dream...but I don't think he is telling you about anyone elses disaster...or how that could possibly relate to you...

I am new to this forums and I know nothing about you..therefore I think God used me to intrepretate your dream, because I would have a clean slate to work with...and soon as I signed up Yours was the first thread I read. I really feel strongly about this, and hope you get out of it all that God is trying to say...

He's showing his love for you , because you have a hunger and knowledge of him, he has shown you before this dream a piece of his heart...and now you are overwhelmed with all this growth...and now he is saying don't stiffle my spirit by getting too zealous and running off with it...he's saying be still daughter, I have more to show you....

I have been really struggling with letting God take control and as a result of that have been struggling immensely spiritually.

So, do you think God is showing me that things are going to be ok and I need to just let it go and trust Him?

A good method of letting GOD lead, is the stillness and prayer and more reading and reflecting..examine yourself..

But taking control would be you running off and telling everyone..Wow GOD is telling me this truth and this...

After the stillness you will know when GOD wants you to share it...

and yes I think this is an awesome dream..an awesome truth he is telling you...it's detrimental for your growth...sometimes when we are struggling is the best growth...He wants you to know that he is in control, but only if follow his lead...He is reassuring you that all will be good...The narrow path you seen is a good sign..this is showing you his way...and the fact that you don't step off the cliff because you know it will mean death, is saying that inside you know that you need him to take that step...and your act of faith...allowing him to guide is another good sign in your dream.. see this dream tells me facts about you ..that I have no way to know from my knowledge

trust me he has revealed things to me that shook my bones ..I mean my body shook from inside out and I cried for days because he showed me a portion of his burden or his sadness over Christianity straying from the truth...He showed me how the pulpit needs cleansing and that many are preaching humanism rather than Christianity...He showed me how we are all looking at what we can get out of him and not understanding that he bought and paid for us..and that GOD took great pleasure in crushing Christ at the cross...meaning the sin that Christ took OH...the pain my heart felt was unbareable the gravity of my selfishness and pride, and that even I had fell into the trap of Oh if I do this for GOD he will bless me...and when he showed me a portion of his love and GREATNESS I realised that I should worship and serve him simply because he is worthy of this!! GOD is WORTHY. Was not his sacrifice enough that we would love him? Oh the burden that was on my heart..I wanted to run and tell everyone that we were all in danger of humanism and not truely understanding GODS nature...but this was something he revealed to me and not everyone was ready for it...so I had to be still and absorb...And possibly I should not have said this but I pray it reveals his truth...
