I'm looking for some Scripture to read to my kids each day. What I'd like is not longer passages but quick, hard-hitting verses that are good for kids to either hear each day or memorize. Some examples I've come up with are as follows:

Obeying parents - Exo 20:12, Eph 6:1-3, Col 3:20-21
Lying - Exo 20:16, Lev 19:11, Prov 19:5, Prov 6:16-19

Any more recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I'll write them on a piece of paper and place it in my Bible. My kid's ages are 3, 5, 7, 7, and 9.

Have you considered AWANA? I use the scriptures from our AWANA lessons and there a variety of them :)

You know, if you are teaching your children about the verses on obedience, I hope you are memorizing the verse that says, "Parents provoke not your children unto wrath."

Teach your children about the love of God.

Christ said the 2 greatest commandments are to Love God, and then to Love others.
Teach them that.

Matthew 22:37 Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'"

Matthew 22:39And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.

The passage goes on to say that all of the law hinges on those 2 commandments, so those two should be known. And they are hard hitting with children, especially if you apply them. I had a child in Sunday School harrassing another child. I used that verse as a reminder that God would want more of them. I had a child lie to me, and I used those verses are reminders of what God wants from us.

The Lord is my light and my Salvation-whom shall I fear? Psalm 27:1

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all of your soul and with all of your mind. Matt 22:37

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight. Prov 3:5-6

Be strong and of good courage, for the Lord your God with be with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9

There are so many great memory vs. even for young children. My son learned a memory verse a week from preschool through middle school. Even now his teachers are impressed with his trained memory. I believe it stems from learning bible verses so young.

I agree. Teach them about God's unfailing love for them. THEN teach them about the law.
