Woohoo! Thanks be to God! :)
Yes, we've got some windy gusts with this storm, and they caught and toppled a huge party tent that was in my neighbor's back yard.
There's some men out there now, taking the tent apart, but it was a near miss that tent might have come rolling and bouncing down the street.
As for me, I will have some pine limbs to pick up after this storm, but hopefully no further damage.

I'm glad to see that it got fixed almost instantly. Its not fun when electricity is out in january! Do you have a fire stove in place in case of emergency? Could come in handy if/when this happens again...

No fire stoves here, and the power is out again!
This storm is headed up to New England as well, so pray for our members up there too, please.

It’s out again? Prayers for it to be resolved soon. We deal with outages here where I live being in the woods. It can really cramp the works up. :(

Found out what happened!
The electric company has a tower that is located on a barge, which is floating in the Elizabeth River.
The. Arge was struck, and the tower damaged.

Sorry, that should have read " The barge was struck"...
Any way, they got the tower upright again, and now we have power!
Thank you for all of the prayers that helped to find the cause, and lift the tower back into place!:oldthumbsup:

Prayers would be appreciated.
I have called it in to the local power company, and apparently the outage is wide spread at this time.:prayer:

Seconded, it was a wild storm this morning - seems like nobody was really prepared for it. My fiancee and her kids are down in their apartment without power or heat, I may have to collect them and bring them to my place in Maryland for the night.

Luckily the sun's out now so maybe that'll help speed things along. Looks like about 2/3 of the state is without power though right now...

Our power went out for a second, but it came right back on. Is it snowing where you are or was there a different kind of storm?
Yes, over the state of Virginia, we got everything from 10 inches to 1 inch, depending on where you lived.
We got the one inch, but our power was out for various times in the afternoon.
Thank you for asking.

Hope you're fine, Pam? Winter storms are quite unusual in Scandinavia, but I guess its a more frequent occurence in the US, and perhaps Virginia in particular?

In northern Europe we're more used to storms in the automn and just tons of snow and freezing temperatures during the winter. I suppose Id take ours over yours though...
All the best and prayers said for your homestate and your own wellbeing, Pam.

You’re welcome! We didn’t get much of a storm, but we got a lot of snow, so much that it actually BROKE a lot of the trees in our yard. I NEVER expected that to happen in Virginia, where it usually snows once or maybe twice a year.

Glad to hear you have power back. I didn’t respond early. Work was a poop show today.

That's so weird, my fiancée noted that happening too. Some huge branches outside the apartment broke off and blocked the entrance (I rent a place for her and her kids in Stafford County). I mean, it's a decent amount of snow but it doesn't feel like a lot. There was a lot more last February with that storm that hit from Virginia to Maine and I didn't see as much damage or mayhem.
