I grew up seeing men with beards and mustaches so for me it isn't odd or intimidating. I would approach a man with a beard just as easily as one without one. The few men I have known with beards that I found intimidating would have been intimidating without them. Body language, what they say, how they say it, etc is what I find intimidating, not a beard. I actually find beards attractive, as long as they are groomed.

I'll put it to you this way, if I ever marry and my husband says, "Honey I am not shaving this month." I'd be like "You never have to shave again if you'll just keep your beard groomed."^_^

Im not a lady but I wouldn't say that a bearded person is more intemidating.

If anything they are more vulnerable in a fight because if they fight the wrong person, they will be led around by their whiskers.

Not only that but if they get knocked out and their beard is long enough..... they could regain consciousness tied to a street sign or something.

I think biologically women are more attracted to men with beards. Although from comments in real life, it doesn't appear that way.

I just hope my future wife likes them. Every "no shave November" I start mine and I just took mine off two weeks ago.

Some women like beards because it can be a way to see if the man has lots of man juice (mojo) in him and women can determine if he is a good provider.

When I was a kid only outlaws, loggers and a few sailors had beards.

I do keep about a weeks growth on my face at all time unless I am working in the public like a sales man or serving and then I shave everyday.

I ask, is it the beard or something else? No me but Opie from SoA.

I was quick to say no and vote no.

However, I thought for a minute and realized I may have jumped too quickly. I find well groomed beards and facial hair quite attractive on men and it is possible that I would be slightly more intimidated when approaching them.

But I'm not discouraging it. That's the type of intimidation I welcome :p

The reason I asked/posted the poll is because it seems like people tend to divert their eyes when I walk by them. They don't know I'm looking at them because I have my sunglasses on, but there's often this "oh shoot" look.

Maybe I'm just an ugly donkey... :p

Nah, DB, you're not ugly. I think it just depends on the person and how they see beards that determines how they react to someone with a beard. Some people love beards, some loathe them, a mixture between, and others find them intimidating but I think it is an individual thing.

Ah I can see why you're annoyed or confused.

Quite opposite to what you suggested, being good looking is often one reason that people are intimidated by someone. But also a lot can be told from how you carry yourself. If your online presence is at all similar to how you are in person, I would guess that you are quite a grounded and confident person and also give off that vibe to others. It doesn't mean that you're too confident, it just means that perhaps you carry yourself well. That is something that can be noticeable from a long way away and intimidates some. But as Swan said, that's their problem. Truly, don't worry.

Shaved a little too close there I think Elrod. :p

Once again my GIF failed. It was suppose to be a GIF of somebody checking him out, epic fail on my part.

So everybody knows up front, I only shave my legs, my face hair I use a trimmer. :)

It is the Giants cap, not the beard :) You are probably terrifying Dodger fans all over your city.
