Poetry For God

Hey, wondering what to do? Why not pick up a pen, get a notebook out and start scribbling down some poetry for God? Poetry might not be your usual thing, but why not give it a go anyway? It doesn't matter if you're not a born poet - I'm not! - but the words are from your heart and I'm sure it'll make God smile! Here's a short poem I've written myself to inspire you which I've entitled 'The First Poem', hence because it's the first poem I've ever written for God:

Oh Heavenly Father,
This aching heart of mine beats for you
This troubled mind of mine thinks of you
Though my fatigued body had never felt you
And my ancient nose has never smelt you
These exhausted eyes of mine have never seen you
These feeble ears of mine have never heard you
Though none of them may ever perceive you
With my heart and mind I believe in you

The Love of my Life


The Love of my life is King of all kings
it is not fear but salvation He brings
Choosing to wear a crown made of thorns
it was the sins of the world that He chose to bore

The Love of My Life has a Kingdom, so great
that not even the Earth could have contained
And this King prepares a place for me to stay
for the day I die and can be with Him one day

The Love of my Life is the light in the dark
He leads me through the times when it seems it's too hard
He carries me when I am too weak to stand
And never leaves me wherever I am

The Love of my Life knows my secrets and past
Though still His love for me will always last
And with all of my sins, His arms are open wide
His love and His mercy will never run dry

The Love of my Life will to us return
to us as we all eagerly yearn
He will come with power, glory, and might
The Love of my Life is Jesus Christ
