Perplexing pig dream

Last night I had a dream that I was walking around inside (I think) a mall or something like one. There was a small wild pig following me like a puppy, but it was not friendly.

Then another pig, slightly larger but still small, came charging at me. I heard someone mention that they were javelinas.

The bigger pig was very aggressive and whenever it charged me, I had to hit it hard with a wooden board that I was carrying. This stopped it momentarily, but it would soon get its bearings and charge me again. I knew that if I didn't fight it off that it would bite or otherwise attack me.

Ideas?

WOODEN BOARD
A wooden board has shown up before in dreams as legislation, however odd that may sound. Wood is a material that humans often craft and reshape into useful objects...a board is flat and rigid, straight and unwavering but strong but still pliable enough to carve or reshape.

JAVELINA
I had to look up javelina -- did you know what they were before the dream? They are peccaries that are mistaken for pigs, operate in herds, and have such poor eyesight they may appear to be charging when actually trying to escape.

Living With Javelina

From the article linked above:

Javelina usually cause only minor problems for people by surprising them or eating a few plants. However, people should NEVER feed javelina. This can cause them to become regular visitors and lose their fear of people, creating problems for the neighborhood and often leading to the death of the javelina. Javelina occasionally bite humans, but incidents of bites are almost always associated with people providing the javelina with food.

Removal is usually a last resort; Removal usually results in the death of the javelina. In some cases, the javelina cannot be moved to a different location because it may have a disease or attacked a person. Research shows that most javelina do not survive a move to a different area due to inability to find food, water and shelter; being separated from the herd; being killed by a car, predator or other javelina while defending its territory; or reaction to the capture.
It is election time in the US, and I can't help but think of all sorts of analogies where a peccary is considered a pig, and defensive action appears to be offensive. (And then there's poor vision, lol.)

"Don't feed a visiting animal or it will stay" is a warning we have heard most of our lives... we put seeds out in our birdfeeders and then complain of chipmunk overpopulation, and we feed stray kittens then complain that no one is taking responsibility for it. There is always a consequence to generosity, where we have to set limits before we want to.

On a large scale we see this with immigration and overseas trade -- we complain that jobs are taken, when we/someone opened the doors by seeking efficient solutions or simply wanting open doors.

The javelina situation overall seems to relate to trust and setting boundaries, whether personal or otherwise. In your dream you didn't encourage the visit, but being in the public commerce area seemed to put you in a vulnerable situation.

APPLICATION TO LIFE
I was listening to EWTN this morning, and a priest was talking about our vulnerabilities. He suggested that the enemy attacks where we are vulnerable, so we should look at what parts of our lives the devil make buckle our knees.

He brought up different areas of our spiritual expression -- fellowship, prayer, reading scriptures, demeanor...

If we face our weak areas, we can fortify our walls where they are in fragile or in disrepair, and prevent ransacking of the whole town.

We sometimes imagine that our whole lives are falling apart, when we know that we have managed things fairly well. It only takes a small vulnerability to throw a lot off.

Your dream could have all sorts of explanations, but you will probably get a sense of what it applies to as you work through it. Some people get dreams where identities stretch scope of influence, so self=one's church, company, ministry, organization, nation.

The javelina article leads me to think that what you assume is an attack should be given a little more mercy or understanding -- that if the life and needs of the attacker are considered, you might have a better outcome. Even though it certainly does not look like the obvious solution.

That's interesting. I've never heard that before.

I had heard of javelinas, but didn't know much about them, which is why I thought this dream had significance. I just knew that they were small piglike animals. When a subject that is barely known to me appears in a dream I get interested.

was instantly reminded of these verses ...

For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou
unclean spirit.

And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answer-
ed, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many.
And he besought him much that he would not send
them away out of the country.
Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great
herd of swine feeding.
And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into
the swine, that we may enter into them. And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean
spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the
herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they
were about two thousand and were choked in the sea.

Matthew 12:43,44
the sign of Jonah

When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and finding none.
Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished.
Then goeth he, and takth with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of the man is worse than the first. Even so it shall be also unto this wicked generation.

when one casts spirits out, it is crucial to keep your house (body, vessel, house) swept clean of the spirits and Christ in the house ... it isn't enough to just cast them out ... one must keep them replaced with things like praise, scripture reading, worship, talk of the Lord, etc. ... one certainly can't go back to one's old ways and expect them to stay gone ...

wooden board ... no life ... can't eliminate bad spirits in one's life with anything but the Lord's way ... anything less is like hitting them with a piece of wood ... that's to say hitting them with a piece of wood is like they'll say ... 'so what ... that causes us no fear' ... and I doubt if it would even cause them much pain ...

we don't fight off the enemy by our own power ...

have no idea what or if any of this rings any bells to you ... just what I see ...

Same here. Those phrases tucked in seem ridiculous until I look them up.

Good point. It even ties in with the man-made rules, trying to deal physically with a non-physical being.
The unholy things of life try to chase us down and knock us over and shake our faith.
And that is good overall advice about fears in the dreams -- stand firm in your sonship in the Lord's family.
