Non-denominational and pentecostal.........hmmmmmmm

Non denominational are people who do not hold an allegiance to any one particular denomination persay Methodist, Lutheran, Catholic, Foursquare, Assemblies of God, Episcopalian or any other denomination persay.

Pentecostalism is something different. Pentecostals believe on The Gifts of the Spirit an many times many styles or Pentecostals believe in The Baptism in The Holy Spirit with evidence of speaking in tounges and that it is for today. And there are differences in what certian groups of Pentecostals may believe vs another group of Pentcostals may happen to believe about the gifts of the Spirit.

Charasmatics don't believe that The Baptism in the Holy Spirit has to be necessarily through speaking in tounges.

a brief synopsis but thought I would post. hope it help a little bit anyway.

Sincerely,
Templedweller:)

Yeah that was helpful a little. But I realized that Non-denominational takes it easy on sins. For example they take little sins more serious than big sins.
And if they do sin with something big they seem to take it easy and i guess pretend that its not a big deal.

And is it non-denominational churches has this belief that you can get baptized more than one once and drink juice instead of wine on communion?

I attend a Pentecostal church because that is what is in my area, but I don't consider myself a Pentecostal.

A Non-Denominational don't believe in Denominations because it says in the bible that we are one church (which I agree with) and each church can "decide" their own doctrines, which mean they don't have to follow some doctrine some person come up with when he or she founded a new denomination.

A pentecostal is putting extra weight on the Holy Spirit and believe all the gifts from the Holy Spirit is active in the church today. They also believe that speaking in tongues is a sign on being baptize in the Holy Spirit (Which I don't agree with. I believe any of the gifts from the Holy Spirit is a sign on being baptized in the Holy Spirit).

Hope this answer your question.

Well one cannot lump all non denominationalists together as each person is an individual...but some believe alcohol consuption not unto drunkeness is ok. Some will abstain totally It just depends

JesusFreak78 the definition that would be on you due to your belief that any gift of the Spirit can be baptism in the Holy Spirit would be more along the lines of a Charasmatic Believer than persay a traditional pentecostal.

Soncerely,
Templedweller:)

Non-denominational strictly means that you don't have any particular denominational affiliation...plain and simple.

Pentacostal is a denomination (or group of denominations) that believe in the present-day manifestation of the gifts of the Spirit, in particular with tongues being the initial evidence of being baptized in the Spirit.

A growing trend is that many non-denom churches are charismatic, which is similar to Pentacostalism, but differs in that tonges isn't necessarily the initial evidence of being filled with the Spirit (although a charismatic person who is not affiliated with a Pentacostal church may hold to that doctrine). So it's easy to confuse non-denom with Pentacostal, since many non-denom churches are similar to Pentacostalism in most respects.

Pentecostalism is a group with affiliations and a common belief.

Non-denominationalism is a name given to a group of people who hold only to the Word of God and go solely by the title "Christian". And in all technicality, grape juice is fruit of the vine as much as wine by literal definition of the English :p

Where did you get that garbage? I've belonged to a number of non-denominational churches and none of them took a soft stance on sin. And there is no degree of sin. A sin is a sin. Lying against someone ("Bearing false witness") is as serious as murder. Some Baptist (denominational) churches require you to be re-baptized if you havent been baptized in their church. There is not one Scripture requiring us to drink wine at communion.

Hi :)
Well both Pentecostals and Non Denominational Christians are Protestants.

Pentecostal people believe in 'sign gifts' of the Spirit such as speaking in tongues, healing, prophesy, etc. Some of them believe that these gifts are evidence of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. Some don't. I think Pentecostals from the Assembly of God believe in the Trinity, but Oneness Pentecostals don't. (These are just different 'denominations' or churches within the Pentecostal movement).

Non denominational just means that you don't follow any denomination...there are non denom. churches, which are usually contemporary in style and evangelical Protestant in doctrine. Some non denom people also believe in 'sign gifts', as well as some Catholics, Anglicans, Lutherans, etc. They are collectively called Charismatic Christians.
Hope that helps :)

God bless.

Non-denominational: The term generally refers to Evangelical Protestant congregations that are not affiliated with a specific Christian denomination. The vast majority are fundamentalist in their theological beliefs. Most "... are loosely Baptist in doctrine" 3 and are often influenced by charismatic, Pentecostal, and Calvinist beliefs and practices. They total about 6 million members in the U.S. Most congregations' senior pastors lack a seminary degree. They have the highest proportion of adults among all Christian groups with what Barna Research calls a "biblical worldview." 3,4

  1. "A Biblical Worldview Has a Radical Effect on a Person's Life," Barna Research, 2003-DEC-01, at: http://www.barna.org/
  2. "Non-denominational Churches in america [sic]," WorshipQuest.org, at: http://www.worshipquest.org/
Pentecostals: those Christian individuals, churches and denominations who believe in the Holy Spirit Baptism, a second manifestation of the power God of which follows an individual's conversion to Christianity. It is evidenced by glossolilia, or "speaking in tongues". Services are highly emotional. There are about 50 Pentecostal denominations in North America, including the Assemblies of God, Church of God in Christ, Association of Vineyard Churches, the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship, United Pentecostal Church International, Church of God in Christ and the Pentecostal World Conference. This is the fastest growing family of denominations in Christianity. Its roots can be traced to the National Holiness Movement which came into being after the Civil War, and to the Baptist, Methodist denominations. Most denominations allow women to become at least junior pastors. Jim Bakker, Benny Hinn, Jimmy Swaggart and Pat Robertson are among the most famous Pentecostal leaders. BeliefNet estimated that there are about 24 million Pentecostal followers in the U.S. in early 2001.

The above definitions and explanations come from one of the most unbiased web sites I know of. It is www.religioustolerance.org
