Okla State Univ had some really good bars; kind of a sugary peanut-butter goo (that's a technical cooking term, people), and some chocolate glaze drizzled (another technical term) on top.

Found several recipes on the internet, some using MARSHMALLOWS. I don't think the school bakery used that. Here are a couple that sound promising:

CHEERIO BARS

#1:

1 c. Karo syrup
1 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. peanut butter
1 (12 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
1 (12 oz.) pkg. butterscotch chips
6 c. Cheerios

Heat Karo syrup and sugar until sugar melts. Add peanut butter and mix well. Pour over Cheerios and mix well. Spread in medium sized jelly roll pan. Melt chocolate and butterscotch chips together and spread over Cheerios. Cool in refrigerator until set. Cut into bars.

#2:
1 c. light Karo
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. brown sugar
2 c. peanut butter
1 (12 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
6 c. Cheerios

Heat Karo syrup, sugar and salt until boiling. Remove from heat. Stir in peanut butter. Stir in chocolate chips, Cheerios and vanilla. Pack in 13 x 9 inch buttered pan. Cool. Cut into bars.

Anybody have any experience with these? I think the butterscotch & chocolate chips would be far better melted and applied SEPARATELY. Wonder what would be te difference in taste between BROWN and WHITE sugar?
