There's nothing wrong with being a female theologian. But anyone familiar with God's word should know that it forbids women to have authority over men. Many people say that the Scripture is "taken out of context." But no matter how large a context you read it in, I'm not sure how anyone can justify this.

I am finding it interesting that only guys have answered this so far.

My thoughts is that as a woman are centered on her role. Women can not be the head pastor of the church. However, is she pastoring the children or women? If she is then yes being a pastor with title is acceptable.

Not familiar with the Pastor... but most Independent Baptists (like me) have no problem with female Pastors, Reverends & Ministers.
Fact is, in my own life, it has been mostly the female Christian Leaders and Ministers who have been the most spirit-filled and SPIRIT-LED!

Have followed Gene Scott for years. He married her in his later years and she had a singing ministry role in the services before his death.

She has a background in the adult film industry:

Melissa Scott was born April 12, 1968, as Melissa Pauline Peroff in Italy. The family moved to Canada then to Massachusettes where Melissa met and later married Paul J. Pastore, an aspiring adult movie producer. The couple moved to North Hollywood and wed in Las Vegas in 1992 then began their work as pornographic producers and directors. Melissa performed as Barbie Bridges in adult photos and videos produced by Vivid Productions. The two formed Barbie Bridged Entertainment which has grown to an international producer and web producer of pornographic video movies featuring teen agers and every conceivable combination of erotic thrill.
Melissa became coupled with Dr. Gene Scott in 1995 during his pony girl phase of paying models to attend his church in the front row, while requiring the rest of the audience to stand and give the ladies an ovation when they entered. Melissa was one of the group who vied for Dr. Scott's attentions and assets.

Yep, that's the lady I've seen on TV. I've never found that to be such a great preching method. Don't get me wrong, biblical Greek is my current college life, but for pity sake, if you have to parse somthing during preaching, your point probably isn't worth it.

Was Scott a nut? I remember my mom watching him (this was a lot of years ago) and I'd come in the room and the old fella was sitting on the stage with his cigar not saying anything, and I'd ask mom "why isn't he saying anything" and she'd say he was waiting for donations or some such.

Great stuff on the evidence for the resurrection.

But he taught:
  • Celtic Israelism. Traces the line from King David to Queen Elizabeth II (I got the chart)
  • The Great Pyramid is a map of the plan of the ages
  • Big fan of Holy Blood, Holy Grail, the prequel to the DaVinci Code
  • You had to have a ticket to attend services and he excluded anyone that didn't toe the line. No SS for kids, he bussed them to a LA museum while he had the adults.
  • Passed a live broadcast lie detector test re charges of adultery
  • Raised $6,000,000 for a project that he said was secret and would not detail
  • Sold his paintings on air (including one of a tent with four feet sticking out entitled Abraham and Hagar) and bought thoroughbred quarter horses.
  • One of the finest Bible collections in the world
  • Went into a 1 1/2 hour tirade in a service because his staff had set the air conditioning at a level that did not suit him.
  • Bragged about his sin saying, "Aren't you glad you have a pastor with experience."
Yet he held an earned doctorate (PhD) from Stanford. Bright guy but a whack job.

The doc was an excellent communicator. A trip to watch and with lots of substantiation (mostly Art Bell stuff, but not fluffy illustrations like some TV mins)

WOW.................. Nevertheless God can save to the utmost. Still I can see scriptural support for her possition. Just puzzled with the women that ministered with paul. Why we he encourage their ministry, but forbid women to teach?

Some irony here. The Doc use to love playing a video clip of a hefty preacher named Fred sitting in a chair preaching from that verse so hard that his chair collapsed and he fell over backwards.

The Doc would repeat it a dozen times shouting to his tech team, "Play Fred falling out of the chair!" and "Play it again." He would roar laughing all the while.

BTW, I watched a few broadcasts (no pun intended) when he promoted her as the soloist. It was pretty sickening.

And a few years before he paraded his secretary Christine (about 30 years younger) before the congregation.
