Reckless overeating, or reckless wasting of food, would be abusing that which God has given you. However, I wouldn't get overboard with the wasting of food. Sometimes I cook a batch of something, forget some of it is left in the back of the fridge, and end up throwing some out. What am I going to do? Bag it and send it to Africa? Most places in the world that are hungry are hungry primarily because they have cruel dictators squandering their resources and engineering the scarcity of resources to control their people. There are North Koreans and South Koreans that live only a few miles away, but there is a huge difference between the food in their respective kitchens. It surely is not because one place can grow food and the other cannot.

People that are starving in other countries are (bless them) gonna starve regardless of wether you eat it, or throw it away.

I personally dont like fat people. Unless their is something really wrong with them. There is no excuse to be fat. Eat healthily, and when you are full, dispose of the rest.

If you paid for the food, you can do whatever you want with it.

I read from somewhere that over eating is a sin. If I prepared a meal and overloaded food on my plate and towards the end of my meal I realize that I cannot finish my plate, what should I do? Dump the rest of the leftover or continue eating so that I don't waste any food? Is throwing away food also a sin?

No, you don't need to throw it away. Put it in tupperware and place it in the Refrigerator for later.

If he paid for the food and keeps until later, the money he saved on the later meal can go to charity to feed the starving people in other countries.

Is it Christian to not like fat people?

Clearly you dont know what actually happens to charity thats supposed to go to starving people in Africa.

Ever heard of Live Aid. Ever heard of the millions it raised for poverty in Africa? Ever heard anything else since? No. It solves nothing. Poverty stricken countries are poor mostly because of a corrupt government. Those starving people never see a penny of that money.

Makes me think of Jesus healing all of the lepers, etc - no wait, it doesn't make me think of that at all. Do you have to like "Gluttons"? Nope, I suppose you don't - but I think you're limiting yourself on friends, fellowship, etc. "Gluttons" are people too - maybe they just look a bit different, but they're people too.

You're 100% right on the corrupt government factor and our realistic inability to do much for many of these starving populations.

I carry an extra 50 pounds or so on me. I am not disgustingly fat, but certainly need to lose it. Genetically my doctor has not found any explanation for my body's reluctance to lose weight, but simply says I just have a slow metabolism, though it is not hormone related. My diet is off and on. Overall, I eat pretty good, but lately I've been eating out more often due to lack of time with job interviews and licensing exams. Now, that's behind me and it's time to peel off a little more. My diet is average at worst, as I know many people that eat far worse than me and can fit into clothes I haven't worn since I was 14. I'll put my cardio and training as superior to 90% of those that walk into a gym on a given day. Do I do more than anyone I know? No, but I work very hard on the exercise end.

Bottom line: I'm not within blame for my excess weight, but it is more difficult for me than most to take it off. I would like to lose those 50 pounds, but I'm probably looking at 2-3 years of hard training...which I'm attempting to do.

Save the rest for later.
