Object lessons

My husband and I recently went to a Kids Conference in our area and the minister did an object lesson on stirring up the gift God has put in you. He used 3 different types of liquids and pour them in the same glass container one at a time. Each liquid stayed on top of the previous one poured in. then he stirred them up and as he began to talk again they began to separate again. Anybody ever seen this done or know what the liquids were and how it was done? We are also looking for new object lesson to do in children's church if anyone has any ideas, I'd love to hear them. Thanks!

I'm not sure what the 3rd liquid would be, but for certain, 2 of them are water, and cooking oil. I like the application though.

There is a science experiment in which equal amounts of blue lamp oil, milk, and corn syrup with red food coloring are mixed and separate into three different layers. Another version of the liquids is to mix water, oil and maple syrup (each representing a different aspect of the child's life).
I remember an object lesson I used one time when teaching at a vacation bible school at our home church. I taught about how we are vessels of Christ and actually made a flower arrangement while teaching about the fruit of the spirit and how that makes us look to our friends/family. Then for the craft everyone got to make their own little flower arrangements!
