My Christian sister who is in her late 30s didn't kiss in her past two relationships which lasted for quite a few months each. They wanted to wait until marriage. She thought it was good because it made the breakups less difficult.
Do you or a Christian you know also think that you should wait for marriage to kiss?

I think it depends on the kiss and the commitment. There are "friendly" kisses and there are passionate kisses. I'd suggest that it's best to wait until marriage and definitely not before getting engaged.

Do you really want to marry a person with habitually bad breath? No, there must be copious kissing to determine kissability. God did not call us to be impractical.

I guess whatever floats one's boat.

But no, I don't think that kissing should wait till marriage. It can if that's what people want, but there's certainly no obligation here.

Couples can also hold hands and make googly eyes at one another before marriage.

I do remember that being talked about a lot in my college years. It's a stricter standard than what the Bible explicitly teaches, and there were others that were also talked about back then. I don't know how widely they were practiced, but I think it's wrongheaded. People would talk about "what if kissing leads to more?" Which is a legit point, but they never seemed to talk about why dating someone who has so little self-control that one kiss will get them going to second or third base or more would be a bad idea.

I hear this from Christians who 'know someone' who's been taught that or believed it, but never actually attended a church that taught it or knew someone myself who believed it.

I've always been taught kissing's okay before marriage.
I guess it's supposed to be a step that's supposed to help in determining compatibility?

I respect that belief tho.

Sloppy doggy kisses :)
