No, not really. Paul gave a general rule of thumb to recognize the operations of the Spirit. It wasn't meant to be universally true all the time.

The meaning is that no one can make the profession of faith unless by guidance of the Holy Spirit. Anyone can say "Jesus is Lord". Charlatans do it all the time to fraud people out of money.

Someone who says " Jesus is accursed " says it in their heart. Paul contrasts this by people who say " Jesus is Lord" they too say it in their heart. All others don't count. So it is true because it come from the heart. Words are meaningless it is the condition of the heart what matters.

A comparison of their former heathen condition and their present Christian state shows a change had taken place. A Christian at all times acknowledges the lordship of Jesus Christ. We need to find the truth for ourselves not what someone else tells us GOD's word really says

I'm pretty sure Paul means nobody can say it with conviction unless they believe it to be true through revelation from the Holy Spirit.

Somebody I know of (and I'm sure many others) thinks someone being able to say "Jesus is Lord" out loud, proves they are saved. Like that's the test one passes to prove they're saved. But that's ridiculous of course. The test, so to speak, is one saying it because they absolutely completely believe it to be true.

There are multitudes of men who make the bare confession of Jesus' Lordship, but there are few men who know how to take that confession home and acknowledge it as being applicable to them.

So is scripture wrong? You seem to imply so and completely misunderstand what John is writing and saying. Jesus is Lord isn't just a phrase, it's a way of life. He is saying that no one can give themselves to Jesus as their Lord unless the Holy Spirit enables them to do so.

I'm not the only one here who read that and saw it as though you were saying that John the Apostle is wrong. I'm not going to argue the point with you, I'm merely suggesting rephrasing stuff like that to avoid any confusion. You may well have an excellent point that you want to make, but if you start it off with a statement that's going to put people on edge and likely in a position to resist what you say, then it's a moot point.
