Unusual confirmation name was a no-brainer for this convert.

Jane Tomaszewski was thinking about becoming a Catholic when she learned an unusual fact about herself.

She’s the direct descendant of a canonized saint.

“That was the clincher for me: ‘Oh, I think I was meant to be Catholic,’” Tomaszewski told the Register.

The rarity is a conversation starter, but also a question mark, as Hans Whitmer, the director of faith formation at Tomaszewski’s parish, told the Register, describing the time he first heard about it last summer, before Tomaszewski joined the parish’s adult conversion program.

Jane loved the music of the parish, St. Robert of Newminster in Ada, Michigan

I know where Ada, Michigan is---I've been there, in fact. :) It's to the east of Grand Rapids, kind of a commuter area for folks who work in the city. Never been to St. Robert of Newminster, but I have heard of it.

A guy I knew from the VA was married to a Korean girl; he always introduced her to people as Kim, but her real name was Gun-Sook. They had a little boy about the same age as my son; unfortunately, she died a few years ago, and he and the boy moved to Texas, so I don't know where they are now.

Man how cool would that be to discover that while on your way into the Church? It sure makes choosing a Confirmation Saint easy.
