My Pigeon Dream

I had this dream about a week ago.

In this dream Jesse and I were walking through a petstore which had just had a storm. The building was damaged and they were trying to adopt out some of the pets and we were there to help with anything they needed, pooper scoopers or anything. Well I was walking down this very large hallway with two of the employees. The hallway was one like you might find at the entrance to a mall. The floor was wet and I sat on a bench to talk to them until the place opened. A tamed pigeon flew up and landed on my hand that I held out for it. The bird looked into my eyes and I could tell it was happy. The two employees wanted me to adopt it but I was concerned that my mom would not allow it. When I looked away from the bird to the employees it turned into a fuzzy frog. More of a mystical cartoon creature and it was smiling at me. I had a feeling in my dream that the frog was meant to be mine and so I took it and kept it from my family so I didnt have to explain. Then I woke up.

Frog: "Frogs are mentioned several times in the Bible. All but the passage in Revelation refer to the plague of frogs in Egypt. The ancient Egyptians connected frogs with fertility and the life cycle, so they considered frogs sacred. What dismay it must have caused when the frogs multiplied uncontrollably and then died and the Egyptians had to gather these sacred animals into stinking heaps. Revelation 16:13 speaks of frogs as the symbol of unclean spirits."

Pigeons: "Doves and Pigeons belong to the same family. They are often mentioned in the Bible as if they are the same animal. Pigeons were probably the first domesticated bird. When people realized that doves could travel long distances and always find their way home, they used them to carry messages. Hebrews ate pigeons and, from Abraham's time, used them in sacrifice. Doves appear to express affection, they mate for life, sharing nesting and parenting duties. They are gentle birds that never resist attack or retaliate against their enemies.

Because of its innocence and gentle nature, the dove is a common religious symbol. The Holy Spirit took the form of a dove at Jesus' baptism. The dove also symbolizes peace, love, forgiveness, and the church."

So, if you compare the biblical meaning of frog to the biblical meaning of pigeon/dove, and then go back to your dream with that understanding, I think you will have a clearer picture of the meaning of your dream.

You may be involved in an organization, an effort or a cause that you generally view as a good thing and harmless, but is nonetheless doing the works of the world. To me, the animals/pet store represent things earthly and may perhaps even contain things/animals that represent spiritual abominations to God. You may be sympathetic to a cause and offer your support, thinking you're doing something good for mankind, and therefore the Lord.

To me, the pigeon represents a counterfeit of the Holy Spirit. It looks something like a dove, but it certainly isn't one. Nevertheless, it appears friendly and innocent, like a lot of things in this world that look harmless and good, but have consequences in the spiritual realm in your walk with the Lord.

In Mathew 19, a man addressed Jesus as "Good master", and Jesus replied and said, "...Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments."

In other words, "good" can only come from God, and not man. Man's ideas are always corrupt in some way, and self serving. So if God didn't tell you to do something, or get involved with this and that, don't think you're necessarily pleasing the Lord.

Of course, the world and its causes are more than happy to receive your sympathies and compassion, and will embrace you like the pigeon that landed on your hand, like you were giving a "handout", so to speak. The world may even profess to love you. The reality is, however, that this is a false sense of holiness. And the godly reward you expect for your efforts is really not of God, but is in fact worldly and of Satan's domain. Even though you eventually realize the true nature of your perceived reward, it still holds a disguise of being harmless, which is illustrated by the frog being furry, like a stuffed animal.

Your mom represents spiritual authority from which you hide your little secret, so you can continue doing what you do, because it makes you feel good about yourself, and because you enjoy doing it.
