Moloch, Baal and Mammon
Corruption of body, mind and spirit: inerrorent believers are usually working from one or all three of these spirits. The disciples that Jesus referred to as the sons of thunder were said to know not from what spirit they worketh when they wanted to send fire down from heaven.
Moloch(Abusive) is prostitution of the emotions. And it’s expression is cruelty and lust. That spirit degrades the affectional nature that expressions in lake of love and deeds of brutality to offspring. The Canaanites used to sacrifice their children to Molech. It’s a matter of the heart not being right with God. Loving each other is the overcoming, showing interest in others and what they are doing.
Baal(Adulterous) is wrongful morality in individual choice that debases and degrades the human mind. A mindless ambition to buy all that appeals (guilty as charged, that’s a hard one for me so I really have to budget[/b]) Baal can be seen in adoration of imperfect knowledge results from darkening of the nouse (mind) Romans 12:1-3 meeting needs of others, burden bearing etc.
Mammon(Controlling) a prideful spirit usually from wealth and importance by some standard. It’s the deification of the human will. Adoration (adornment/chaos) of degraded will is the loss of the true governing principal behind the will of mankind. Overcoming is in working together while not clinging to rights. It’s in recognizing strengths (from where help comes)
I have many of these analogies referencing body, mind and soul as three aspects of the human person, written in the back of one of my bibles. The last one highlighted heart, mind and strength. Another analogy highlights lust, greed and pride. Those highlights are beacons of light shining through the darkness because they are aspects of the character of Christ, expressed by the Holy Spirit, and distinguished from the degraded spirit of mankind.
From that same body of study: about the growth from infant to maturity that I had linked to the the evil practices of Molech, Baal and Mammon (I remember the source but followed a different train of thought)
Moloch is an infant that needs to learn holiness instead of being controlled by desires and ganging up to perpetuate quarrels. The infant has feelings of hatred, pretending to be good, dishonest, jealous, backbiter, evil, deceptive, envious, and fraudulent. Moloch needs to learn right from wrong by doing what is right, Molech needs to grow into the fullness of salvation and leave Peter Pan to find his own marbles.
Baal is a child that needs to learn faithfulness. The child is into sex sins, impurity of thought, greed, dirty stories, foul talk, coarse jokes. Instead of sitting around laughing at what they should be ashamed of, they ought to remind each other (through psalms and hymns etc) of God’s goodness and be thankful. A child ought to learn as they go along what pleases God, and enjoy His company in the songs of your heart to God.
Mammon is a teenager, but an unruly one. Always arguing among themselves in disunity. Mammon needs to learn justice and mercy
Maturity otoh (not letting the left know what the right is doing) is of one heart! one mind! and one purpose! Loving each other, in wholehearted agreement, working together. Feed others with kindness, give them peace and joy to drink and clothe all with dignity.
