Annabel Beam was just five years old when she was diagnosed with two incurable disorders.

Treatments for pseudo-obstruction motility disorder and antral hypomotility disorder - life-threatening digestive disorders - kept her in and out of the hospital for years.

In 2011, another tragedy struck. While Annabel was climbing a tree, a branch gave way, sending Annabel falling 30 feet headfirst into a hollowed-out cottonwood tree.

After several hours, an emergency fire crew managed to harness Annabel to safety and she was rushed to the hospital in a helicopter.

Incredibly, not only did Annabel survive the terrible fall without injury, the symptoms of her disorders miraculously disappeared.

"I believe that I was cured because ... I asked Jesus if I could stay with him, and he said, 'No, Annabel, I have plans for you on Earth that you cannot fulfill in heaven ... Whenever I send you back, there will be nothing wrong with you,'" Annabel said.

The story of a young girl who miraculously managed to survive falling headfirst down a hollowed-out tree and landing on her skull will hit the big screen later this week.

Miracles From Heaven, which stars Jennifer Garner as the young girl's mother, tells the story of Annabel Beam, who was nine years old and managed to come out of the ordeal with barely a scratch.

Anyone here remember "Heaven is for Real"? Who wants to bet we're going to end up hearing that this is all a hoax a few years down the line? Spontaneous remission happens. Often, diseases just clear up in ways that are utterly unexpected, for no apparent reason. But to jump from "no apparent reason" to "god did it" is a very clear god of the gaps fallacy. (And never mind that the evidence is sorely lacking.)

"God heals, and the doctor takes the fee." - Benjamin Franklin

The truth is God heals people everyday without explanation yet people make excuses like "spontaneous remission" to explain what they cannot. But then we fail to give credit where credit is due out of fear that there might be something higher then ourselves.

You mentioned "Heaven is for real", yet you want to discredit or would like if it was a hoax without any such information that it was anything but a miracle. God is real and miracles happen everyday cause our God is a awesome God.

Next time you get sick, don't visit a doctor. Stay home and pray. See how well God heals that Tuberculosis. ;)

And how do we determine that it was god that did that?

You mentioned "Heaven is for real", yet you want to discredit or would like if it was a hoax without any such information that it was anything but a miracle.

Correction, I mistook Burpo's story for that of Alex Malarkey's, who admitted it was all a hoax. Now, just out of curiosity, what exactly was the difference between these two stories? What makes Burpo believable when Malarkey was lying?

Apparently this girl still takes three different medications daily for her condition which her family is claiming to have been "cured".

Anybody else find that odd? Does Jesus miraculously "kinda" cure people?

I suppose if she didn't take anything anymore it would be an interesting case...but only slightly. I remember reading about a man who got a severe knock on the head and now he can perform amazing mental calculations that he couldn't before (and people who have trained for years aren't able to do) because he can visually "see" numbers as he thinks of them.

That was an interesting story. Scientists researched his claims and found that he somehow acquired some form of synesthesia. This looks like her medications are doing a better job of controlling her symptoms...could just be the placebo effect.

For those not easily offended, I heartily recommend Tim Minchin performing a song called Thank you God, which addresses this subject. I can't link to it on this forum but you'll quickly find it on YouTube

Where would you go to be healed ? Someplace they tell you not to even try, that it is impossible, if you were sick...........
or
someplace with "good reviews" , at least some hope of healing ?

Would this change AFTER you met people who lost their diagnosis at an AMA medical clinic ? (i.e. not mid-congo, for example).
