Kentucky Rose
Wayne Kirkpatrick and Michael W. Smith

Sun comes up - Sunday morn
On the little church where I been since I was born
And there he stood - a hearty smile
You could hear his voice ringing out for a country mile

And he could place your mind at ease
With his tenderness and a heart
That aimed to please
A pauper's hands - a farmer's clothes
Just a preacher man we called Kentucky rose

He worked the soul like he worked the land
He spoke in ways that anyone could understand
Simple words of simple faith
And when it came to love
He would go out of his way
A helping hand
A soothing chat
And he practiced what he preached - imagine that
And as far as kindness goes
There was none compared to old Kentucky rose

Evening stroll 'cross Shyler's bridge
That's when he saw the boy
Trapped below that rocky ridge
He knew the danger he would face
But it's as if he saved the child
Only to take his place

For on that ridge of stone and ice
Kentucky met his maker in a sacrifice
Why he's gone
God only knows
Maybe for the company of his Kentucky rose

So peaceful in his Sunday best
He was buried on a hill and laid to rest
When people heard they came in droves
To say their last good-byes to sweet Kentucky rose

Now, on that hill
One flower grows
They say it's the spirit of Kentucky rose...

Above All

by Lenny LeBlanc & Paul Baloche
from "Worship"

Above all powers
Above all things
Above all nature and all created things
Above all wisdom and all the ways of man
You were here before the world began

Above all kingdoms
Above all thrones
Above all wonders the world has ever known
Above all wealth and treasures of the earth
There's no way to measure what You're worth

Crucified
Laid behind the stone
You lived to die
Rejected and alone
Like a rose trampled on the ground
You took the fall
And thought of me
Above all

Place in This World...I did that song when in highschool for a talent show. Amid the diverse croud, we had a good unity of spirit I was surprised by. Quite a few lighters in the air too. Kinda felt like a 60s peace and love croud even though it was far past that decade..

Blessings

...Trilogy.

After seeing Him over and over and over and over again, there is no single song that I can pick that takes the cake...but I can say this. Michael W. Smith isn't just a singer to me. He is a strong musical influence whose writing has inspired many to be more like Christ. He is one of those rare people that God has chosen to be a leader of worship for thousands of people. I hold him and his music very dear to my heart as he was the driving force behind my musical interests. I can only pick out songs I don't like, because they are few and far between. The rest have all been a gift to me. The very first CD I ever owned was Amy Grant, Unguarded. The second was Michael's "The Big Picture." I haven't missed a tour yet.
