The Oriental "Orthodox" affirm that Miaphysitism is consistent with Orthodoxy.

Is this true, or just another attempt to holdfast to what they want to believe, as oppossed to the teaching of the Church of Jesus Christ?

Actually we have affirmed a joint Christology with them for sometime.

Link

Both Churches have agreed:

We confess that our Lord and God and Saviour and King of us all, Jesus Christ, is perfect God with respect to His divinity, perfect man with respect to His humanity. In Him His divinity is united with His humanity in a real, perfect union without mingling, without commixtion, without confusion, without alteration, without division, without separation. His divinity did not separate from His humanity for an instant, not for the twinkling of an eye. He who is God eternal and invisible became visible in the flesh, and took upon Himself the form of a servant. In Him are preserved all the properties of the divinity and all the properties of the humanity, together in a real, perfect, indivisible and inseparable union.

Basically it is resolved between us. Or as the link says:

A careful reading of the statements issued over the past 30 years indicates that the ancient christological dispute between the Oriental Orthodox churches and the Catholic Church has been substantially resolved. Even though different interpretations of the meaning of the Chalcedonian definition remain, the churches have been able to set aside the old disputes and affirm that their faith in the mystery of Christ which transcends all formulations is, in fact, the same.

I don't know.....:|

About what?

The thirty years of talks are a long read if you go through the primary documents.

I will say I have many Coptic friends and an Mdiv and there is no substantial difference in our Christology.

.....according to the Catholic Church miaphysitism is the same as the Catholic Faith. We've had Papal-level Joint-Declarations that say as much.

http://syriacchristianity.org/PZakka...eclaration.htm

You are not correctly phrasing it. They are not, as we would call it miaphysite. That label for them is incorrect and a misunderstanding.

So no, miaphysitism is not the same as the Catholic faith...but rather we have not had the same historical understanding of things and there was confusion on a deep level due to many factors. Our Christology (RC, OO, EO) is the same.

The Eastern Orthodox and Oriental Orthodox have made similar/ nearly identical joint statements on Christology. So it is not just the RCC (link)

It is now only a matter of the OO still using using their traditional phrasing. And even the declaration with the EO makes a specific allowance for that.
